This is a reasonably nice looking and pretty well built 2nd generation iPod shuffle dock, quite a bit larger than Apple's dock. Following is the one piece of information that I waited on for months before finally breaking down and buying this item, quoted from the small instruction sheet provided with the dock:

"Audio output (standard 3.5mm DC jack) While the Audio output Function works, the USB cable Charge + data transfer will Stop-And if you un-plug the Audio output DC jack from Cradle, the USB charge + data Transfer function will work Again."

So, no real surprise, but the charger and data transfer functionality is mutually exclusive with the audio out functionality. I keep it at my office as an "emergency" charger; I have only used the audio out just to confirm that it does work as described above.

No audio out, no response from vendor, don't buy this [Posted on 2008-07-28]
I ordered this dock, got a crappy, generic dock with no audio out and a separate USB charger that plugs into the wall. When I tried to contact the vendor I only got a form email response that the order had been shipped.

Next step will be to contact the credit card company to recover my money.
