Agent 18 Shock Kit - Not durable [Posted on 2007-04-11] I bought the Agent 18 Shock Kit for my Nano, primary use is running on the treadmill at the Gym 3 times a week. One day running outside.
Within the first 3 weeks lost the bumpers. Grant it, the top fell off somewhere at the gym, but not as secure as you might think.
Next, the velcro on the arm band began to come unglued. This didn't happen to one of the velcor's but all velcros started to peel off. I used Gorilla glue, but that didn't work. Next I stapled the velcros to the armband.
One would think that I should throw it away, but I paid full price at the Apple Store for the item ($30)! So, now I've rigged it to work for another month??? I'll have to go buy the Apple armband and the plastic cover/case will be useless because it won't fit in the Apple armband.
$30 down the drain...
disappointing [Posted on 2007-05-07] Ordered this product only because it had an acrylic case and an armband. Within 2 days of using the armband at the gym the velcro pads peeled off on removing the band. Now its useless because it doesn't even superglue!
Could have bought another case, but this served both purposes, protection and the armband I so wanted. What a bummer. Bad quality product from agent 18.
AWESOME, Until the Velcro pads came undone! [Posted on 2007-07-18] So I was loving this armband for almost 2 months of use. Then the velcro pad came off. Now I'm screwed and $30 is down the drain. I tried customer service, but this is what they told me.
"We are offering a lifetime warranty for any cracks or breaks from use. You will be able to send in your shield and then receive a replacement for 50% off the cost of the shield plus shipping costs It's a new program so we haven't put it up on our site yet. For now just place a regular order and send us an email with your order number. We'll go in and refund 50% off the product. In the future it will be automated. "
Why would I pay another $15 for another armband that will become useless in no time? Looks like I will be getting the Nike+/Apple armband.
UPDATE 5/20/08: I got a replacement for free after some complaining a month after I originally wrote this review. The newer armband was much better constructed, but after more than 9 months of use the thing gave out and the plastic broke apart from the band. I guess you could say I got my money's worth using it as much as I did once it was replaced, but if I had to do it all over again, I would get the Nike+ Nano armband instead since its one piece all around.
Durable, Protective Armband [Posted on 2008-08-19] This is by far the best iPod armband (for 2g Nanos, at least) that I've seen. It's durable and actually protects the iPod, and it doesn't look like cheap plastic that would probably cause my arm to break out. I've used mine for 2 years, which is a perfectly adequate lifetime for something that gets such daily wear. Just in the past month, the velcro has started to come apart. I will rig it up for now, while I wait for my new one.
