I originally bought a pair of these in Frankfurt a few years ago and put them through a lot of punishment. I go through a lot of headsets as I stuff them into drawers or at the bottom of over filled luggage and they put up with some serious beating. I accredit this to their folding design to which no other brand has matched (and I've done my homework!!!). So they are very durable. The Audio quality as other people have also stated is beefy, clear, punchy and quite simply the best I've ever heard! I put this down to their unique padding and closed ear design where there is no room for air circulation to allow noise. They do sweat up after very long periods of wearing which although it sounds bad is probably good as you should take ear breaks from headphones. It's almost like an issue that doubles up to be a plus! Headband is very sturdy and flexible, I particularly like it but on occasion the band pulls a hair from my head which is never nice. That my friends is all the bads! They are cost effective, superb value for money and very very well made. I got a second pair recently as I stood on the last pair and even though I put the pressure of my whole body on them it was a small crack that did it. They are made superbly!!!!

I'm a college student, and I listen to music more often than most people do, so I thought it would be a good idea to ease up on my eardrums and invest in a decent pair of headphones.
After doing some research, I ordered the AKGs, and was pleasantly surprised to find that they sound like my friend's Bose headphones for the fraction of the price. I'm not much of an audiophile, but I think they sound great.
The majority of time that I spend listening to music is when I'm walking to class, or on road trips with my team, so the size is perfect - not bulky, but not flimsy, either. The design seems to be fairly sturdy, and they fit comfortably on my ears. I really appreciate the folding design; I feel like they're less prone to being damaged when folded up. The in-line volume control is great, too.

I searched and search for a good set of headphones. I am done with the earbuds that just end up making your ear hurt, didn't want something as large as an over the ear head phone and didn't want it with any silly symbols or crazy colors, (I am over 40) I wanted to use these for daily walks with my dog, but at the time i bought them i was preparing for a trip and knew i would need them on the plane. THey are not noise canceling, but i think they did ok at blocking out some of the airplane noise. I looked at sennheiser, bose, etc. All the "top" brands but settled on this one. And glad i did.
First, i think they are very comfortable, they sit on the ear, they do a good job of blocking out external noise and a fairly good job of not letting your music sound out too much for others to hear.(depending on your volume level)
I think the sound you get is very true, good bass, clear sound. I heard things and sounds and words in songs i have listened to forever, that i had never heard before. I think that pretty incredible, especially for 45.00.
I love the fact that they fold up and you can drop them in your backpack, breifcase, purse or pocket. THey even come with their own soft little leather pouch.
When i walk my dog, i put these on with my Sansa, crank it up and i can't hear a thing! Not even myself breathing or walking. SOunds GREAT!!!
IF you want to get a great set of headphones without spending a ton of $$$ these are it. I would buy them again if i ever needed another pair.

I just got these headphones and I love them! Great price for good quality. The look of it is really nice and the fact that it can fold up and fit very smugly in your pocket wins a lot of points.
The only bad thing about this is that it isn't very comfortable after a while, ESPECIALLY if you wear glasses. Having big ears doesn't help, either. But if you're glasses-less as well as big ears-less, then you should really go for these headphones!
Good Sound Quality & Comfortable, but Poorly Made [Posted on 2008-05-15]
I bought these headphones after comparing pairs for a month, and when they arrived, I felt INCREDIBLY satisfied with my purchase.
The sound quality is undeniably great, though indeed the mids can become a bit compressed. The headphones are light and fit comfortably - I managed to wear these for 3 hours on end without soreness. All in all, the headphones were more than worth the $50. But what has turned me off from the k27i is its poor construction.
After less than a month of use, the right cup of the headphones detached. Just cleanly and completely came off. There was no evidence of material fatigue or breakage, and, yes, after a couple of attempts to reattach the cup I succeeded. I also contacted AKG in an attempt to exercise the warranty, since my pair was definitely flawed.
I know what you're thinking - shouldn't be anything to worry about, considering the 2-year manufacturing warranty. Well, I sent an email to AKG's U.S. branch of warranty service and they gave me this reply: "Unfortunately this is a non-warranty issue... if you'd like to send them in for a replacement we would be more then happy to replace them at a charge of $43.00 plus shipping."
Naturally, my reaction was shock. The cup of the headphones detached without any help and clearly the pair were in some way internally defective, yet I am unable to obtain service. No, according to AKG, I must purchase another pair.
The headphones lived up to my expectations but the company did not. I'm very disappointed in AKG's policy and feel cheated. For the short amount of time (keep in mind, this was a mere 3 weeks of daily use) I was able to enjoy my headphones, I rate them a 5. But considering the shoddy workmanship of the product and AKG's failure to stand by its warranty, I give the k27i a 2.
