DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED [Posted on 2007-08-13] I bought two of this speakers.I gave one to my daughter and the other is mine.My daughter prefers alternative /rock music and I prefer jazz and mellow music. This speakers fit for bought case. I just wish it can run with batteries ,but I think it is meant for indoor.VERY GOOD BUY FOR GOOD BRAND SPEAKERS...
Great sound [Posted on 2008-01-02] I got this from a local electronics store rather than Amazon, but after testing multiple docks, this one provided the greatest sound. I've got it set up at work and I'm very pleased with it. It sounds equally good at a low volume or at a higher one. The remote is responsive and functions well enough; no remote will ever do everything you could do straight from the iPod. There's a good bass and treble adjustment, and it charges your ipod even when the stereo itself is powered off.
Dare I say it...... yes. Better than Bose! [Posted on 2008-02-13] I tried this and Bose's idock. Let me tell you why I think this is better. first of all, the price with Bose you are paying three times the amount. If you've heard Altec lansing before you know this company defends itself very well. What you get is a very well built and tough speaker box. It isnt Heavy nor is cheap and lightweight. It has crisp clear sounds and Awesome BASS dropping the notes. You can adjust the treble and bass to your likes. It also comes with an aux. cable and has inputs for other mp3 players other than ipods, which is very convinient if you want to share with other people. With Bose..... there is no input jack for other mp3 players, come on for three hundred dollars the least they could do is put an input jack. The volume button is horrible.... it is this sensor type button that doesnt work well at all . You cant adjust the treble and bass. Dont be fooled by the name Bose like I almost did. Go to frys and apple store and try them out side by side see and hear for yourself.
2nd generation capable [Posted on 2008-03-02] This box gives off quality/non tinny sound with decent bass and good treble. It's good for small rooms or desktops. You can play your 2nd generation ipod with this speaker by either using the included wire adapter which connects to the back of the station or you can purchase the (ASIN:B000P6H7Y6 Griffin Dock Adapter for iPod shuffle) which will fit snuggly into the dock with you 2nd generation ipod in the adapter.
Clicking sound, bad service... [Posted on 2008-07-07] I have experienced the clicking, static issue as well. It will play for about 20 minutes and then start clicking in and out. It clicks faster the longer it is plugged in. If we leave it plugged in (with power off) and then power it on, it clicks really fast. I called and asked them if there was a fix, but they gave me no help. It's my own fault for not sending it back within the warranty period. It made me mad, however, that they acted like they had never heard of the issue before. He said my issue is not one of the frequently asked questions that would cause him to have some solutions/remedies ready to provide. I then log on to Amazon, read the reviews and find that others are experiencing the same issues. Will not buy Altec Lansing again.
