Horrible - Complete waste of money! [Posted on 2008-06-11] I purchased this in the hopes of replacing my speakers and dock - thinking this would be a much better fit on my small nightstand.
In that aspect, it's perfect!
However, if you'd like to actually listen to music with your Zune (30gb) - don't count on it. It doesn't fit on the connectors and wiggles around. I see it charging, but it's not doing a thing. I turn it off, turn it on - move it around more - jam it down hard. Nothing. This thing is really, really horrible for the 1st gen Zunes.
It did redeem itself a small bit when we put my daughter's new 8gb on it - worked like a charm.
But that's not what it was purchased for and she has no use for it. So I now have a $100 piece of electronic garbage. At least it looks nice.
Altec Lansing inMotion iM414 Portable Audio System for Zune [Posted on 2008-06-15] I got this and at first it seemed to have not worked, but I realized though that I had to have the base on before I could connect my zune in. It did have great sound and had more features than regular bases, but the buttons weren't as sensitive as it could have been, but otherwise it is a great buy.
Zune Connectivity Bad [Posted on 2008-07-02] Got this for my 80gb Zune and it's wobbly and doesn't connect right so the song will replay, skip, etc. (guess from the reviews it's not only the 80gb zune). Called Altec and they said that they are aware of the issue and that they will have an adapter to solve the problem, so I guess I'll just have to be patient. They will send it for free when it's available.
Adapter Issues [Posted on 2008-07-29] For the many folks who have had issues with the IM414 not having an adapter for your 80gb Zune, I contacted Altec Lansing directly yesterday and was told that they do in fact now have this adapter and will ship it to you free of charge. I contacted the company at alteclansing@custhelp.com and they were very quick to reply with a solution. Knowing this, I've now decided to purchase the item because the reviews of the sound are great, and this adapter will resolve the only negative aspect I've seen about this product. Hope this helps you folks!
A real throw away [Posted on 2008-08-25] Within 2 weeks of using this dock, it froze up completely. Even without the Zune attached the radio wouldn't work, and the power button did not respond. It was sent back to the manufacturer and returned in a month. Six months later, it will only play the radio and completely ignores the attached Zune.
I could send it back in for replacement, but enough already. It's going into the trash to be replaced by the Kicker made dock.
This whole experience is just another in the made in china, throw it away in the USA syndrome.
