AMBICO VHS Rewinder. Light indicating winder is in use burned out after one tape was rewound. Works well except for that malfunction. Not very good qualify controlI believe.

Purchased two for Children's Hospital to rewind 20-50 movies daily. One of the rewinders stopped working after only 3 days. Amazon was great in sending a replacement before I even had time to return the defective one. I just hope these rewinders last for at least 6 months. Seems like these soon-to-be-obsolete items can't hold up with lots of use.

This unit is very smooth & efficient in operation. Vey quiet, too. The only catch is that one has to press down the lid just right way or it won't kick on. Once you get the knack for that, it works great.

VHS play/record machines are really not designed as a rewinder due to the motor being really designed for the slower record or play speed. The rewinder is designed for this higher speed with endurance in mind. Save your VHS motors from a early burn out by using this rewinder by Ambico. PS: I have one thats been in use 7 years but what with having a small VHS library I thought it practical to buy an extra one now due to the obvious phasing out of the VHS format to DVD.

When my old rewinder finally died following a noisy and prolonged "illness", I found myself in the market for a new rewinder. I realize I'm in the minority, but tapes work just fine for my many time-shifting needs. I ordered this based on the (mostly) positive reviews, and I'm very happy with it. It rewinds the tape quietly, and opens when it's finished, something my old one stopped doing shortly after I bought it.
