works as a straight Ipod connector to USB. I wish I could find the dock to firewire, but Apple can't seem to support this format any more for some reason. Although, USB 2 is quite fast, it's still not as fast as the firewire connection I have. Price was an issue as well. Little pricey for this piece. The product does work, work the manufacturer is getting jerkey.

Service was fast however before I got the item, I found the one I was missing and although a month or so later, I attempted to contact the seller so I could attempt to return it and never got an answer either way.

I wanted another cable so that I could connect my iPhone at work and not have to keep tracking my original cable back and fourth. This cable works fine and looks identical to the one that came from Apple.
