Mistake [Posted on 2008-04-26] These are no better than the buds that came with my iPod. Immediately replaced them with Koss buds from WalMart at less than $20. They are excellent.
Form follows function [Posted on 2008-05-13] If you are a self-professed 'audiophile', then you are at the wrong page. If, however, you are a normal human being who is looking for a stylish yet functional pair of great sounding in-ear headphones, then you have arrived at the right page.
If, like myself, the regular in-ear phones all too often fall out, and you don't like either the idea of pushing 'buds' into your inner ear or the idea of outer-ear headphones ruffling your feathers then here is perhaps the best solution to your musical problems. As one would expect from Bang & Olufsen not only do these remarkable headphones look like a piece of modern art, but they function perfectly well too; and not merely in the audio sense. Functionally they are an amazingly flexible yet simple to use design, built around an ingenious three-way movement that allows your to exactly place the drivers at the opening to your ear. In fact, they fit SO well that you cannot tell you are wearing them.
Of course, we are talking about headphones, so, the all important question, "What about the sound?". B & O have built a solid reputation not merely on their elegant design, but on the quality of their sound too, and needless to say these sound great! beyond great, they are sharp, clear, crisp, clean, colourful, deep, round and offer excellent clarity and separation for such minute drivers. I have listened to a wide variety of music and these headphones have coped perfectly well, delivering a quality performance through a wide spectrum of musical genres.
Although the design of these was later stolen by other companies who butchered it to make those horrible 'active' headphones these headphones are not necessarily meant to be worn by individuals looking to break a sweat, their strength lies in simply being a beautiful, well-crafted pair of headphones that sound superb and simply happen to be worn around the ears. I like to think the designers were tackling the problem of the perpetually dislodged in-ear headphone rather than making a solution for the sporty.
The only minus to this product is the length of the cable - way too long for today's music players. Back in the day, when these were conceived maybe the cable was just the right length, now it is simply WAY too long and ends up coiled or tangled thus ruining the sharp aesthetics of the actual phones. Ironically, B & O provide the purchaser with an 'extension' cable, so why they didn't make the initial cable much shorter, I have no idea - shame!

Perfect for what I need it for. [Posted on 2008-10-20] I consider myself an Audiophile, I used many "top of the line" sound isolating earbuds, my favorites are Shure E530 and Klipsch Image. they produce perfect sound...but I am never gonna use them when I walk on the street or in the gym...they isolate all sounds surround you, its just not safe. Also, they are really really expensive, you are not gonna use them when you work out.
What I am really looking for is something that is eye catching, not sound isolating but still produce good sound effect... A8 is def my first choice, they look amazing and durable. Very flexible and stay in your ear.
Of course the sound is really crappy if you compare this to Klipsch image or Shure E530, but that just because they are not in the same league...Image use micro amateur driver with reflect bass tech and Shure use 2 woofers and 1 tweeter AKA tri-drivers Hifi tech... they are really just for Audioholics who are willing to spend a few hundreds on headphones.
and normally people like me also keep a big open headphone, such as AKG K701 or Gredo s60 etc, they are just perfect when listening to orchestras...
Anyhow, A8 is def the best for casual listeners or Audiophiles who need something casual...
I bought 1 pair straight from Apple store for 160 bucks because there are so many fakes these days.
I would say anything below 110 bucks for this item is probably fake, anything between 110-150 bucks is probably authentic but not gonna give you a warrantee because they probably not sold by a B&O Authorized dealer. its all your choice, but please do not rate this product if you bought it below 110 bucks.
