Good fit, nice, minimal sleeve [Posted on 2008-06-04] I received the sleeve today, and as it happened, I had an appointment in a building in which free wi-fi is available. So I slipped my MacBook Air in the sleeve, zipped it up, threw it over my shoulder and headed out.
I can't really speak to long term durability, of course, but it does seem to be pretty sturdy, and of reasonably good quality for the price. The shoulder strap isn't padded, but then again, the Air only weighs 3 lbs, and it was perfectly comfortable. The inside of the sleeve is padded all around, and lined with a velvet like fabric, so slipping the Air in and out was very quick and smooth. And there are very small padded flaps between the zipper and the computer, so there is no danger of scratching.
It's not skin tight, but the computer didn't seem to slide around at all. There are no pockets. It's a tad thicker than the Air, though not bulky. You might be able to fit the power supply in it along with the Air, but I won't be doing it; I don't really want to take the chance of scratching my computer by squeezing it in, though I do think it is a remote chance. I also purchased a Belkin F5L008-GRY Mouse Trap Mouse Pad for those times I need to pack heavier, my bluetooth mouse, powersupply and ethernet dongle fit into it, and I can hang it from the strap loop.
Overall, I'm very pleased with it. It doesn't add much weight, and it should meet my needs very well. It's a good value, that should provide protection for my MacBook Air. I'm not sure if it's water resistant, but it looks like it probably is. I have a Built NY E-LT13-BLK Small Laptop Case (Black)for those times when I need to pack more stuff, but it weighs more, and this should serve nicely most of the time.
One thing, when I saw the picture, I thought there would be a handle on the side, but there isn't one. That's fine with me, but it might matter one way or the other to someone reading this. I'm thinking what appeared to be a handle to me, is actually just the rest of the shoulder strap.
Good sleeve but no storage [Posted on 2008-06-07] If you need a computer bag with room for your adapter cords, don't buy this. This is a sleeve only. I returned it because I needed just a little more room for my power cords. This is fine if you only need to transport the computer but if you need to plug it in, good luck trying to find a place to tuck your cords.
Great Sleeve [Posted on 2008-06-17] Great Sleeve. Enough room for the MacBook Air and the zippers are placed so that they won't scratch the case. The carrying strap comes off easily so that the sleeve can be used in a briefcase or other situations where you don't want the strap. I gave it 4 stars because an external packet for the power adaptor would be a handy addition, but even so it is a nice case.
Great sleeve - but not general purpose carrying case [Posted on 2008-07-21] This sleeve fits the MacBook Air well and is very lightweight. It works well either as a sleeve without the strap (to be used in a luggage or other bag), or as a featherweight carrying case with the strap for when you're going to be out and using it for a short while. As others have mentioned, it doesn't have a pocket for the power cord or other accessories, but that is not what it's designed for - it's just a sleeve, with the added features of a handle and strap. I use a different case for when I need to bring my accessories with me.
The Quality is not as expected [Posted on 2008-09-01] the material of this sleeve is very delicate, i got a tear on the side of the sleeve from the first week. and no storage for anything not even for a mac book air charger
