Customer Reviews:

Nice case, but I exchanged it. [Posted on 2006-02-28]
I bought this case thinking that I wanted something to keep my 30gig protected but also have a case that was functional. It is advertised as having the clip on the back which can be used for headphone storage. This REALLY didn't work for me. I almost lost the cushions for the headphones because of it. The little button that can be mounted on something to hang the case from was a worthless idea for the most part as well since you would have to have the lid closed to use it. I liked the case other than those features a lot, but when I bought the giffin remote for it and couldn't get it to plug in with the case being on, I knew that I had to exchange it. I want to be able to ride my motorcycle while listening and using the remote, but I would also need a case to protect the ipod while in my pocket. I exchanged this case for the Belkin Caribiner case with the "built in" stand. It's not as nice a case, but you can leave the bottom open to put the remote in or any other feature you have. Overall, not a bad case at all if you don't mind the lack of the dock connection for everything other than a cable.

Stylish and Functional Case [Posted on 2006-03-17]
I mainly wanted a flip case because of its styling. Although I do think that this case is quite high in quality, the plastic screen cover isn't as clear as I'd like it to be. However, it does not detract too much from the iPod's screen visibility. The stub is a rubberish stub. It does its job. It does an excellent job of protecting the iPod too. Its does its job well enough that I might go running with it...with the belt clip. Very sexy. Haha.

Looks Great, But Scratches iPod! [Posted on 2006-08-22]
I comparison shopped quite a bit before buying this case. It is one of the best looking flip cases on the market, and I've gotten compliments on it. Having the docking port and the headphone port exposed is great for plugging it in and unplugging it from my RF car adaptor.

After four months, I realized the downfall of this "protector." I just bought the JBL onStage, which is a great unit by the way, and I took my black 30g iPod video out of the Flip Case to dock it into the speaker. Well, I found that the case itself had caused scratches! Just as another reviewer said, some of the fabric on the interior of the flip case rubs against the front, causing blemishes in about three places.

I just ordered some Brasso to try and remove the scratches, and now I have to consider one of the less attractive skins or lucite protectors from Speck.

If you carry around your ipod in a bookbag, like I do, this will do a nice job of protecting the ipod from keys and other stuff that could cause serious scratches or damage. But if you're looking for something to keep your ipod in pristine (or close) condition, move along.

Top of the line crap [Posted on 2007-08-17]
Most iPod cases are flimsy little skins that leave the screen and click wheel exposed to the elements. I wanted a case for my iPod that covered the entire front and back of the mp3 player. When I purchased my first iPod a pink mini, several years ago, I also bought an awesome pink leather snap case from Belkin. Sadly, I couldn't find anything similar for my new iPod 80 GB video model, so this case seemed like the best alternative.

Overall, it isn't a bad case, but I don't understand why Belkin discontinued its other, much better design. I haven't had any problems with the "plastic nub" closure so far, but I have a feeling that it will stop working or just break off in a relatively short amount of time. Why not stuck with the snap-front case, which was a sure bet? I'm also not very fond of the interior plastic screen. Yes, it will serve its purpose and protect my iPod's screen from scratches, but the plastic screen itself was kind of scuffed up when I took the brand-new case out of its box. I had to Windex the hell out of the screen, and although it now looks slightly better, it's not as good as a new product should be. The belt clip on the back of the case seems functional, but I wish the case was available without the clip, or that the clip was removable. Finally, the case boasts "built in cable management," but for the life of me, I cannot figure out what that means. I assume it refers to a way to store the earbuds, but all I can gather is that "cable management" means you can wrap the earbud cords around the case. Some management!

I haven't experienced any issues with the case scratching my iPod, which is something other reviewers have griped about. However, one complaint I have with the iPod itself is that both the glossy front faceplate and shiny silver backing scratch incredibly easily, so the scratching problems can probably be attributed to shoddy Apple quality and not the Belkin case itself.

I would recommend this case to people simply because it's the best iPod storage option I've found so far. However, the majority of iPod cases on the market are crap, so my positive review really doesn't mean very much. I hope Belkin takes notice of all the customer displeasure and modifies the old iPod mini case design for the newer Apple models.

Well designed Belkin case [Posted on 2007-12-21]
After reading previous reviews, I was compelled to give my support for this case. I read where people are complaining that it does not close properly, or it scratches the back of the iPod. I have used this case with my 30GB for three years and am very pleased. I hang wallpaper and wear it 8-10 hours almost every day, and am not exactly gentle with it. This case has protected my iPod from a terrible fate. I find it stays closed very well, and it is still easy enough to flip open to change music.

It does what it is designed to do, protect your iPod. I have dropped my iPod, bumped up against walls, ladders, etc and a few very minor scratches after three years on the rear of my iPod, which even I never see, is the least of my worries. Belkin stands behind their products. I have had to send it off twice to get a replacement after breaking the belt clip... my abuse, not product defect. I am not able to use it for a few weeks but I get a new case under the lifetime warranty this item carries. As I said I have used this for several years and am VERY hard on it.

The hole in the bottom for access to the charger port is a great feature and I charge mine when I am driving and at night and never take it out of the case. All in all it is a great product.
