Good hub. But no support for updating dock adapters [Posted on 2007-07-24]
This is a good USB 2.0 hub. The inclusion of an ipod dock is handy but there is a drawback. Belkin has made the dock incompatible with the Apple dock adapters so you cannot use a plastic Apple dock adapter for newer iPods and the iPhone with this hub.
This would not be a problem if Belkin would release new plastic dock insets to match newer iPods and the iPhone. Unfortunately, after several emails and phone calls to Belkin tech support the final answer is that Belkin will not be releasing plastic dock adapters for more recent iPod and iPhone models.

This unit is the answer to port expansion and iPod integration. I have an older laptop and needed someplace to plug in alo my gear : iPod, printer, external hard drive, scanner, digital camera/camcorder ... this device not only adds extra ports, but because it's powered things wthere is no extra drain on the computer. Put in any ipod and it syncs with itunes perfectly. Absolutely no problems-- computer reboots fine with/without an ipod in place. And the color lights help identify what's plugged in. At last, a device that does exactly what it claims to do. I've used it without any adapters and it still works great. TOP rating

I needed a powered usb hub and having the ability to have a iPod dock that I could also plug in my JBL Soundsticks to is an ideal solution. However when I plug my Soundsticks in and the iPod is not in the dock, I get a loud buzz through my speakers.
Defective? Probably. I'm sending it back today, since my attempts to deal with Belkin support have been a joke.
Phone support: Let's just say there was a language barrier in dealing with their tech support person, who was obviously reading from a script. Anyone who has had to deal with offshore phone support knows exactly what I'm talking about. First it is hard to get the support person to understand exactly what your issue is (20 minutes). Then you have to tell them that their proposed solutions from their "script" has no relevance to the problem that you are having (30 minutes). There's 50 minutes of my life I'll never get back. Solutions: 0
eMail support: Wrote to their support twice and have not received more than an automated reply saying that they will respond within 48 hours. Solutions: less than 0
I think it's a shame that a company has a great concept, good design, hopefully good execution (i'll find out when i get a replacement unit) and then after they make the sale they care less than zero about servicing their customers.

Works as advertised. It charges and syncs my iPhone, and it doubles as a USB hub. There's not much more to say.

I got this for use with my iPod Video, added bonus is that it even works with my new iPhone 3G! (Tip: If you don't use any of the included insterts, you can instert your 'Pods without removing them from their case)
