All you get with this transmitter is constant static, even on channels that come in clear through other transmitters. The ClearScan feature seems to arbitrarily pick channels, because none of the ones it's chosen came in clear.

I am very disappointed with the performance of the Belkin ClearScan. I have an old model made from a different brand that is superior to this new model from Belkin. I live in Chicago and the clear scan always chooses stations with horrible static. I have to always manually find the best tuning station and even selecting the frequency that works best still doesn't seem to be totally free of static around the city. The new Belkin is a prettier design and it does seem to perform better away from town, but after my experience I am going back to my good old faithful which is terrific in/out of the city.

The TuneBase is a great fm transmitter. I use it daily and have gotten to the point where I don't like to drive without it in my car. Finding a clear channel can sometimes be a little difficult, but the channels in the low end of the fm range seem to be the best for clarity and signal strength.
Excellent Choice for pre-2007 Car Audio [Posted on 2008-06-30]
Most pre-2007 OEM car audio systems were not equipped for external MP3 players. This handy device works very well, with clear digital sound (when a suitable FM frequency is found, 88.1 works well for me). The sound is very clear, with no static or engine noise that I could detect. It's also nice since this unit can be easily moved from car to car with a simple plug-in into the cigarette lighter. I highly recommend this unit for iPod users who want a fast and simple way to listen to their players with no tinkering with their car audio system. It's simple to operate, only took about 5 minutes to figure it out with the provided instructions.
clearscan feature not so great [Posted on 2008-06-30]
i found this item to work for me. i live in a rural area & it works great. i drove to pittsburg, pa last week and had to keep changing the channel manually...the clearscan feature isn't all that great. however the Pro setting actually does make a difference in the sound quality. i drive a dodge intrepid and had no problems with my lighter (some people reported having damaged there lighters while using this device). overall i am very satisfied with this purchase and the price was very reasonable. i like the fact that my ipod continues to charge while my vehicle is turned on.
