This product does the trick for me. I'm also using a relatively large TOSLINK cable ( 25ft Toslink Digita ). I'm going from my motherboard's coaxial out into the converter, then out with the 25 ft Toslink into my receiver. The first AC Adapter I received with the converter was buzzing and stuff. The rig worked for about 12 hours, then the AC Adapter stopped buzzing and seized to work after that. I requested a new AC Adapter and Cables To Go sent me one immediately w/ no questions asked. Since I received the AC Adapter I've been living in clover.

I bought this because the new home theater i was given only has optical in while my tv only had digital coaxial out. Works perfectly with all sound formats. Very small too, easy to tuck away hidden.
Also, my HD DVR has digital coaxial and optical out and I first did straight optical then coaxial to optical to my home theater and there was no quality difference.

I didn't know where to turn. My new HDTV has only one audio out, a coaxial digital. My 5.1 digital receiver has only one in, an optical digital audio in. No one I asked knew anything about this product. I did a google search and came upon this item. You MUST get the correct one, in this case a coaxial to optical, not optical to coaxial. Anyway, I hooked it up, and, VOILA!! Everything works. I did have to push a button on my receiver to make it "find" the TV. I also had to do this with my new dvd. GREAT item!

This product is very simple and strait forward. Please note that it only works in one direction (Coaxial to fiber in this case). Also, it does require power to work.
The build quality does not seem to be the best but at this price I can afford to have a spare (or two).
If the manufacturer was going to make any improvements I would ask for channels to make it easier to ziptie excess cables to or near the device (Warning: if looping optical cable do not make the bends too small or you will crack the fiber inside and destroy the cable, make a circle with the loops 4 to 6 inches in diameter and put a ziptie at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions)

this product took the Coaxial audio output of a HDTV and ran it thru an old Optical Connection on a Samsung all in one home theater. 5.1 theater sound came thru very nicely. Great product work as promised. You will need a free plug to "plug in transformer" for this device.
