Great little camera [Posted on 2009-01-02] This seems to be a very well built camera (better than the SD1100 a friend has) that does everything quite well in my limited experience with it. It's amazing that it cost me less than half what my 4 year old Canon A95 did, and has twice the resolution and is less than half the size!
Great little camera [Posted on 2009-01-02] This is the first digital camera I have bought for myself, all of my others have been less than 4MP and not my choice. I chose this camera because of it's price, size, and picture quality. I'm not even close to being a professional photographer, but I have been wanting to get more into it and needed at least 10MP to take the pictures I wanted to.
Pros: A decent range of menu and function options, excellent resolution on pictures, lightweight & compact (fits in my pocket). When I started to browse the options in the main and function menus, I was a little overwhelmed because none of my other cameras had so many settings. I HIGHLY recommend reading the user manual, it answered all of my technical questions regarding this camera. Once you know how to change the settings to fit your environment, this little camera takes beautiful pictures, especially in digital macro mode, which I've always had trouble with on other cameras. The image stabilization is good, too. Only a few of my digital macro pictures have come out blurry, because I was not using a hard surface or tripod. The camera lets you know when it is "shaking" too much, which I find to be rather helpful. Another thing I particularly like (which is probably pretty common with more recent cameras I'm sure) is face detection.
Cons: The little cover for the cable to connect the camera to the computer is a little annoying, it kind of gets in the way while you're plugging in the cable.. Also, the cord doesn't go in very well, I had to push a little harder than I'd like with a piece of equipment. I'm worried about this breaking before its time.
It may have just been my computer, who knows, but when I loaded the software that came with the camera I chose to manually install because I didn't want the image viewer it came with (I like to use Preview on my Mac). When I tried to transfer the images to my computer though, it didn't work. I went back and installed the image viewer and voila, no problem. Seeing as how it was separate from the other two items to install, I assumed I could live without it, but apparently not and I really didn't want to add 300MB worth of something I didn't even want to my computer.
Overall, this is a cool camera and I'm definitely happy with it.
The Best Bang for my Buck [Posted on 2009-01-03] Is it this... or the SD1110 IS? Hmmm. It has to be this.
Smaller, heavier (in a good way), and packing more juice
than ever. I was very happy with this. I like the face
tracking, hella slickness. I like this Canon better than
my old camera the Sony T1 something.
A little nice camera [Posted on 2009-01-04] I like this camera a lot. With this price, it performs better than I expected. Small and powerful. Image quality is great. Highly recommended.
Awesome Piece of Equipment [Posted on 2009-01-05] I bought this camera for myself the day after Thanksgiving due to the fact the camera was powerful and yet extremely affordable.
The pictures that the camera takes are crisp and clean and I've yet to run into any problems where the pictures have come out 'blurry.'
I also like how Canon added all the accessories required for this camera. With my previous camera I had to buy my own USB Cable and AV Cable.
The camera is pretty small which is good for most but if you have big hands like I do you may end up dropping it one to many times. It will fit into your jean pockets comfortably.
Although the camera takes good pictures by itself I wish there were more detailed options when it comes to taking pictures (example: set shutter speed, set ISO).
