Good idea?? [Posted on 2008-09-30] I bought this after I had inadvertently left the refrigerator door open for the fourth or fifth time. I thought this would be a good solution to that problem, where I would get an alarm if the refrigerator or freezer warmed up due to an open door. But this unit keeps giving me an -E- error message and I have to reset the whole unit each time and start the monitoring again. What a pain. The company says it's due to the placement of the unit and/or sensors but no matter where I put them, I get the error.
Works like a charm! [Posted on 2008-11-19] Was shipped and received 2 days before the estimated arrival date! Had a little trouble when I first set it up. I put one sensor in our kitchen freezer and one in the freezer in our garage. The sensor in the garage keeps giving an error message. All the batteries I had when I received it were a little old, so I went and bought some new ones. Since I put the new batteries in I haven't had one single issue.
It says to use lithium but i just used regular alkaline and they work just fine. The sensor has set off the alarm a few times when the door is cracked open which is EXACTLY what I wanted!
Would recommend this to anyone that doesn't wanna go through the experience of losing a entire freezer full of meat like we did before we bought this product!
Great product poor execution [Posted on 2008-11-22] In general, an awesome product. Very difficult to setup. Transmitter positioning inside freezer/fridge critical. Alarm setting is almost impossible. Directions don't help, will call their tech support. Hope they help, as it is an important safeguard to a rather flakey old freezer.
Chaney wireless fridge freezer thermometer alarm [Posted on 2008-11-29] Very useful product. Only minor issue is that it doesnt seem to have a huge wireless range. My freezer is in my utility room which is about 6 metres away from my fridge and is in an outbuilding! We have finally settled on a spot where both temepratures can be read -on the washing machine! So far so good, alarm is loud and effective.
