On the first one, I try to turn it on - hmm - nothing, manual says 8 hours to charge so I give it try - after 8 hour s, try it - nothing. Plug it into Vista-nothing, XP - nothing. Call "customer service" and ask to see if there is anything they can do or help with - "Nope, and it will cost $6 to complete a refund", plus he was really rude. Whoever thought you could have good customer service come out of New Jersey was really fooling themselves. The Amazon refund way = perfectly painless and FREE. So I RMA through Amazon and before I could even send the broken one out, the new one arrived in an unbelievable 2&1/2 days. So I turn it on - ahh lights come on - ok - listen to sample music - good & fine, plug it into Vista - "Unrecognized USB Media Error". Plug device into Windows XP - "Unrecognized USB Media Error". Refund time. So, lesson learned - don't expect a $17.99 MP3 player to work. I ended up buying a SANSA 2G at triple the price and couldn't be happier and it goes everywhere with me. So - bottom line -Avoid this product / brand / company all together. Negative Stars.

EL PROBLEMA CONSISTE EN QUE WINDOWS NO LO RECONOCE, Y POR LO TANTO NO SE PUEDE NI CARGAR Y POR SUPUESTO TAMPOCO SE PUEDE TRANSFERIR LOS ARCHIVOS DE MÚSICA. Really, I took a risk by making this purchase. The three prior reviewed rated it horribly. But I decided to take my chances, and they paid off. The player is automatically recognized perfectly by the computer. You can add songs by physically dropping files into the file folder. I personally use MediaMonkey. The manual even gives you a link where you can find a driver if there are problems. I'm using vista, fyi. Overall, this is a great substitute for the ipod shuffle. Shorter battery life, but cheaper. PS: This player is much smaller than I pictured. It about the size of a small usb flash drive.

I cannot believe it. The mp3 player cannot be recognized by any computer
and LED doesn't show me if it works or not.
Don't buy it if you don't want to regret for your decision.

I bought this player and when it arrived, it was defective. wouldn't charge, wouldn't even detect in XP or Vista. Got an exchange and the replacement was ALSO a dud. Unless the buyer knew they were purchasing a pallet full of duds and trying to make a quick buck (it happens), Coby is a no-brainer.Don't buy this brand. I think they might spit out a good one per 1000 of product but that's an optimistic total.
