Mine worked for less than one minute. After an 8 hour battery charge the battery wouldn't keep it going for more than a minute. The dead stop due to battery death choked the player and it hasn't worked since. The product included TWO big yellow flyers asking me not to return it if it doesn't work (hint, hint - they must have a miserable failure rate) and that Cust svc was open 7 days.
Turns out Customer Service is a recoding telling you they are only open during "X" hours, please call back. Except it's right in the middle of those hours and they are still closed. The two big flyers seemed like a dead give a way. Mine is going out with the trash.

Wanted something simple for mom. Point and shoot. I download, she plays. She loves it. Compact, portable and rechargeable. No batteries to purchase. 1 GB just enough room for her kind of music.

This Coby MP3 player is the perfect solution to listening to audio books in the classroom as a springboard for getting kids to read at home.My students are so excited about taking MP3 players home to read their books, that, quite honestly, it has been total chaos trying to check out the MP3 players to students. The best part of all is that they really are READING at HOME!! Believe it or not, I even had a parent put her child on restriction from reading because she was reading so much.
Anyway, for the last 10 years, I have been buying audio books and recordings. Initially, I bought audio tapes, but when the prices on audio CDs became more reasonable, I started buying everything I could on CD. Unfortunately, I have had a rough time replacing cassette players, and now I am having the same luck with CD players. The cheap ones just aren't being carried in discount stores, and I can't afford to pay $20+ each. At about $3 each,I have a fortune invested in about 120 rechargeable batteries. In addition, the students have ruined several audio sets due to carelessness. I started with two MP3 players, and ended up purchasing about 50 more. I have put all of my CD's on MP3 players, and I will be spending the next year putting my taped recordings onto an external hard drive so that they can be transferred to the MP3 players. I'll have to buy more, naturally, but I have enough to keep me busy for a while. book series on them, i.e., Gordon Korman's Island Series, Phillip Pullman's series starting with The Golden Compass. The MP3 players are easy to use, and they bookmark each time you stop the player; they charge quickly on the computer, and they are easy to carry around. I have never seen my students so excited about reading.

I bought this for way less than $20. I have an IPOD, but wanted something generic looking for the subway. This Coby works fine. My laptop recognized it immediately, and I was downloading to it within 5 minutes. I have both music and audio books on it, and the sound quality is fine. The ear phones that came with it are OK, but I use Smoking Buds for a snug fit if I use it at the gym. I appreciate Amazon for finding me deals like this. Thanks.
