Marginal [Posted on 2008-04-05] The interface could be more user friendly when it comes to customizing playlists. And the battery life seems shorter than other similiar devices.
But for the price I can't complain to much.
decent sound but poor design [Posted on 2008-04-13] decent sound but poor design. sometimes you need a pin to reset it. sometimes some songs are skipped with no reason. anyway it has a decent sound, better than sandisk sansa.
Terrible Terrible [Posted on 2008-05-31] Terrible Customer Service they are so rude when you call them.
Hard to use item. Do not buy a COBY product.
It's decent for the price [Posted on 2008-06-19] I recieved this player when I joined a travel club as a free gift, so I really can't complain about it. HOwever I did have to recieve another one because after a month or so, the power button broke and I couldn't turn it on manually. I could only listen to it in my car. But it is a good little player, I'm just a little more careful with my new one. Also it holds a decent number of songs, I don't put any videos on it because why go blind trying to strain your eyes watching that little screen, I use it just for music. The one big criticism I do have is the ear plugs are HUGE, I've never met anyone who can fit those enormous things in their ears. I did have to by a different pair, but it wasn't that bad, still has great sound.
worst ever [Posted on 2008-06-25] i got a free coby mp3 player as a gift. wow i have never seen a product as bad as this one. first of the product actually looks cool and that's the only plus point. the headphones they supply with the unit look like little hammers i didn't even put it on my ears. the menu system and navigation is frustrating at best. the touch interface is more like a tap interface. the screen and gui are horrible at best and don't worry about video or pictures coz you won't be able to enjoy them. another problem is static electricity, this unit hates static and i am not talking about the amount of static that u can feel (any mp3 player is not good with that amount of static) but even tiny amount of static that you can't even feel will turn this thing off. then you have to wait another 15 minutes before it turns back on. i think it has something to do with it's metal back it is a very good conductor. i tried taking it to the gym; big mistake. it kept shutting off and i had to reset the thing so many times that i ended up carrying a safety pin with me so i could reset it.
about the battery life; it wouldn't even last a day. so finally after a week the on/off button gave away and i couldn't use this bugger anymore. don't accept this thing even if it's a gift, the frustration and mental trauma is not worth it........
PS. I forgot to add one more thing the screen. seems like the people at coby live and work in complete darkness, because it is impossible i say again IMPOSSIBLE to see anything on the screen in daylight. i had to memorize the folder list and it was kinda fun navigating from my mental image. it's a brain teaser..
