Customer Reviews:

Perfect for audiobooks [Posted on 2008-08-26]
I have been through many mp3 players and this one is by far the best of what I have had or tried. Unlike Sandisk players it organizes files by a very logical way, i.e. by folders and filenames. It does not have problems with non-Latin characters (like Cyrillic). The bookmarking feature is awesome, you can add as many bookmarks as you will ever need; finding them and resuming is easy. One of the comments here mentioned that fidning where you left off was hard - I totally disagree, it is very easy. Battery life is great. Sound quality is excellent and the equalizer options and presets seem to be infinite in number.

I would give it all five stars if it was not for super-sensitivity of the controls; you don't need to touch them, it's enough to look at a button to activate it. Once I start listening I always lock the keyes.

Don't by Cowon products... [Posted on 2008-09-04]
I have been thoroughly disappointed with their products and lack of customer service. They average about 2-3 weeks to return an email for customer service issues. I finally got through to a representative and was advised to send the product back to them, at my own expense and they emailed back about 1 month later stating that there is no problem with the item. When I emailed back with a detailed description of the specific situation I encountered (item stopped powering on or charging through the USB port) they ceased communication. I still haven't heard back from them, but will never buy their products ever again. They are terrible both at manufacturing and caring for their customers.

Cowon lets you know you're low priority [Posted on 2008-09-15]
I bought the iAudio7 about a month ago, returned it because it was defective, got a replacement that doesn't work either and am about to return that one too. After pressing the hold button, I couldn't find anyway to release it. Customer service said press reset. That didn't work. Returned it to Amazon. Still haven't gotten a reply from Cowon regarding how to release "hold." This is a topic not covered in the downloadable manual.

I have to laugh (or cry) about the Customer Service at Cowon. Takes at least 3 days for a reply. There is a place to click indicating priority level but, the only choice is low priority.

In spite of this, I think the sound quality is excellent. It tends to drift from the radio signals after it's been locked into them and has to be reset.

If I were able to re-rate this item, I'd lower the stars to 1.

Poor instruction and horrible customer service. Don't Buy! [Posted on 2008-09-19]
I purchased this MP3 player for my daughter. It is our first experience with an MP3 player. I found that its use is not intuitive and I struggled to figure it out. The owners manual is only available online. The cd it comes with is for Windows 98. Plugging it to my PC loaded with Windows XP did not help. No other instructions popped up.
When I contacted Cowon's live help, the person on the other end was rude. Telling me that he was no there to tutor me on how to work my PC. When I asked for help with their program JetAudio he disconnected me. When I tried to get back to them there were no more operators available.

JetAudio is also counter intuitive and makes it very difficult for the non-geeks to do anything with this MP3 player.

This MP3 player is also supposed to interface with Mac OSx. Plugging it into my MacBook was just as confusing as plugging it into my PC. I have figured out how to work my PC and all my programs. I figured out how to work my MacBook and even how to run Windows XP on it. Very easy to do.

In the end I will go with an IPod and the expense, as I have experienced Apples plug and play ease of use. In addition there is great customer service both on the phone and in their stores. There is something to be said for convenience (both for help and repair) and for intuitive electronics.

Avoid this MP3 player---a disaster [Posted on 2008-10-18]
My first iAudio MP3 had a number of technical defects. Thinking it was just one bad lemon, I purchased another recently. Same thing--technical defects. Although the sound is fantastic, the poor quality of Cowon products, bad customer service (you cannot speak with a live person), poorly written and incomplete instruction booklet, and hyper-sensitive touch screen, make this a product to avoid at all costs. "Quality control" and "user-friendly" are words that presumably are alien to the makers of iAudio products. It is amazing that the firm is still in business.
