Features: This is a good product! [Posted on 2008-08-12] The company was very good about getting the headset out in a timely maner. I am very please by how well it works.
headset USB - NOT for Rosetta Stone! [Posted on 2008-09-18] Product works normally, but fails to work with the Rosetta stone language software. I found this product on Amazon while looking at a similar product on Rosetta Stone's website. Since it was cheaper on Amazon I bought it there. Caveat Emptor....
Very faint microphone [Posted on 2008-11-18] When VOIP (Voice Over IP) phones were required for my work I immediately purchased this headset based on the reviews and since it was "recommended" by my work. However after a month of using the headset I noticed a few things:
- the length of the mic boom from the headset to my mouth seems too short
- the mic does not pickup the audio very well. I have to move the mic touching my mouth.
When I put the microphone in front of my mouth it still is very faint in picking up my voice. It appears the only way it can pickup audio is if I literally place the mic against my lip. The audio is then heard but my voice comes across like I'm an airline pilot picking up my breaths inbetween sentences.
However on a positive note it is a very universal USB in that it works on my Mac, PC, and Linux machines. The earpiece volume control works very well along with the inline mute button.
But unfortunately the most important part, the microphone is too faint for good use.
I've since invested in a wireless Platronics CS60-USB headset. The cost is significantly more but it has been well worth it.
Decent Product For a Specific purpose [Posted on 2008-11-23] First, let me clarify something: These are NOT "music" headphones. If you're looking for something to ENJOY WMA & MP3 music... do yourself a favor & spend some real money on a real pair of phones DESIGNED FOR THAT PURPOSE. These will "do the job" if your only interest is hearing & not quality listening.
Having said that, I bought these specifically for language learning & voice recognition recording. They've worked great so far. They're sturdier than most of the other models I researched & for the money, they a solid investment.
Good headset/microphone for computer audio privacy [Posted on 2008-12-06] I purchased this headset with microphone to play some on-line PC games (namely 'Left 4 Dead').
This unit is connected to your computer via a USB port (rather than standard 'jack' on your audio card) and has volume adjustment in the connecting cord.
The head phones are padded making them comfortable to wear for prolonged sessions and the microphone is the boom-type attachment so it can be swung up or down to give the best results for audio input.
The configuration in 'Control Panel' provides that you use either your regular speakers OR these headphone/microphone, but not both at the same time. This is a great feature as it allows me to slaughter countless aliens without the noise of guns and explosions disturbing the rest of the household late into the night...I mean, who else is going to keep the free world free, right? ;-)
Conclusion:
A well made headset/microphone that typifies a 'Boys and their Toys' attitude to perfection. 5 Stars
