Transdock for Sansa.... [Posted on 2008-05-27] I bought one for my wife first to use in her car. Works great! I then tried in my car (dodge magnum wagon) which has the FM antenna in the glass of the back window. Other FM transmitters I've tried did not work well. The DLO however has enough signal strength to produce a relatively clean signal even in a crowded FM band (like chicago & burbs).
Pros:
* Good signal strength
* Easy to see display
* Well constructed
* Adjustable angle in regards to 12v plug & display
* Removable USB cable (might also work as a "sync" cable for the sansa)
Cons:
* Unclear programming instructions.
Programming FM frequency tips:
The provided instructions aren't very clear. So here's how to program the Transdock -
Plug in the Transdock, but don't connect the Sansa yet.
1) Find one to four clear FM frequencies (go to DLO's site and find "OpenFM", it will help you find them)
2) Set your car radio to an open frequency
3) Press BOTH buttons on the Transdock to select the "preset" that you want to program the frequence into.
4) Use the left (freq down) or right (freq up) buttons to match the frequency on your car radio.
5) Connect the Sansa and shortly after that you should hear the Sansa on your car radio.
6) Press & hold BOTH buttons at the same time until the Transdock's display temporarily shows the preset you're programming.
Repeat as necessary, up to four times.
Excellent Product [Posted on 2008-06-04] I live in Houston so there is not much open space on the FM spectrum. I had tried an cheaper FM transmitter and it just wasn't very good and eventually broke. This one works fairly well, with only occasional interference from an FM station somewhere. And it charges my Sansa MP3 player to boot.
Brakes easy [Posted on 2008-06-07] Mine broke after 6 months of use. This did play great intill it broke. I read some bad reviews about the same thing.
Good product [Posted on 2008-06-11] I really like this product and would recommend it to anyone. I do get a little static on some channels, but I can usually find a station that is very clear.
Poor quality for the money [Posted on 2008-06-17] I bought this to replace an Itrip FM transmitter for my Sansa E280 that died after about a year of use. It is of poor quality versus the itrip. It is difficult to find a station that it can overpower and there is always a high level of static even when it is tuned to a frequency with no evidence of local radio station. In addition to the static, it tends to make the bass tones sound like a symbol is going off in the background at certain times and on certain songs (even the highest quality mp3 or wma). It is nice that it includes an auxiliary jack that you can plug other brands into, but the sound quality is too big of a negative. I have ordered another itrip in hopes that it will last longer than a year this time.
