it may just be my car stereo, but... [Posted on 2008-04-27] i have tried using this with my ipod...and it is a disapppointment...i have sirius, which is reasonably clear, am and fm, which are fine, and a cd player...but this is just weak and inadequate no matter what fm station it is tuned to...i guess it could be a deficiency in my car stereo...but i can't say i am impressed by it...
Great Product [Posted on 2008-05-08] Works well, intuitive. Concerned about sound quality? Don't be. Great if you are tight on space (mine is in a Miata). Arrived in great shape and faster than I expected.
Works good with ipods, not for iphone. Lots of noise. [Posted on 2008-05-12]
I've got mine for over a year now.
It works decently with most ipods, it pumps out a very low power signal, I have to turn the volume really high to be able to get a decent volume in the car's system. Unfortunatelly, one of the cars, has a "top" level, and will not reach a loud enough volume. You can hear a lot of hiss.
When I plug the iphone, a dialog window pops on the iphone that reads something like "This adaptor is not compatible with iphone, it may cause interference, do you with to turn off the phone?"
If you say yes, the iphone goes into airplane mode. no cell or wifi.
you still hear hiss. If you say NO, the phone works, but you can hear every time you switch cells, and 4 seconds before you get a call :)
it makes a lot of beeping sounds caused by cell interference.
Bad luck? [Posted on 2008-06-23] I picked up one of these (at Best Buy) for use with a supported iPod model and an iPhone. Worked fine with the iPhone (aside from needing to go into airplane mode, which was expected) but locked the iPod up starting about 30 seconds after being plugged in and ending about 5 seconds after being unplugged.
I contacted the company, they promptly replied, saying that it sounded like a bug and I should return or exchange it where I bought it. I did a return, then placed an order from Amazon. That one had the same problem with the iPod, AND was not recognized by the iPhone. It would allow charging, but no audio came through. From bad to worse :(
Input through the aux jack works fine, so I can still connect any device to it and play tunes in my radio-only car, but that involves more cables (and a cumbersome adapter, for the iPhone) and is a less than ideal solution.
My recommendation: Make sure you get it from a place that's easy to do returns, and test it right off the bat. When it works, it's great. When it doesn't, it's a pain.
Works great [Posted on 2008-06-23] I took back a Griffin itrip in order to purchase this. I wanted a transmitter in order to play my ipod on my boat, which did not have an aux hookup. I had heard good things about DLO products in general although had heard nothing about this product specifically. On the river, the receptions were comparable between the itrip and the Transdock micro, but working on the boat in the driveway, the DLO gave me a much better signal and transmission than the itrip, no matter how many channels I tried transmitting to. It is also very easy to use and to program. It is a nice size...inconspicuous and easy to adjust to where ever the placement needs to be. I am very happy with this product and would highly recommend this transmitter.
