Good Idea, But Very Poorly Designed [Posted on 2007-12-30]
I purchased this product to protect the screen of my video iPod from getting scratched during use. I take it everywhere and travel a lot so I needed something that would prevent damage.
The box clearly stated that it would fit my 80GB iPod and this product was exactly what I was looking for. However, it was so impossible to fit on to my iPod that after an hour and a half and one blister later, I packed the product back in the box and drove it back to the store to return it.
There is a silicone sleeve that you must first fit around the iPod and then you are supposed to be able to snap the hard protective cover on to the raised silicone nubs. The silicone is so thick and tight around the iPod that it doesn't allow for the hard cover to fit. I would start to get one side of the cover attached and then I would be unable to stretch it over to the other side. The process is very difficult, frustrating, and fruitless.
Very bad design for a good idea. I am now looking for a similar concept with a better design. Do not waste your money and time.

I recently bought this case for my 80G iPod classic, and it's amazing. I did not find it difficult to get on at all--yes the face plate does fit snugly, but that means that it stays on securely. I feel that my iPod has never been better protected. Every part of my iPod is covered up except for the hold switch. Little flaps of silicone protect the earphone jack and docking port. Even the scroll wheel is covered. But the best part is that even with this super protection, I'm able to dock my iPod in my various devices without removing the case, which I couldn't do before. All I had to do was take the little adapter piece out of the dock. After I'd only had this for one day, my husband loved it so much that he ordered one for himself.

Overall a okay ipod cover, but my only gripe is that most of the time you have trouble with the wheel responding through the silicone cover. I'm considering cutting out the area over the controls. Pressing the buttons isn't a problem but most times it doesn't repond to any scrolling motions.
Update: I did cut out the part covering the wheel and works much better, I do like the looks of it, but again the wheel covering is the only issue.
iSkin Review [Posted on 2008-02-13]
I was skeptical about first getting this new iSkin based off of the other reviews that I read, but now that I have gotten it I am very pleased. Originally I had an iSkin for my third generation iPod and loved it so that is why I looked into getting another one when I got a new iPod. The front cover is a little challenging to get on but once it is one I have no worries about it falling off by itself. The only drawback to this is that the pre cut hole in the skin for the headphone jack is designed for the apple ear buds and it is difficult to securely insert 3rd part headphone plugs into the jack without pulling back the rubber a little bit. I am debating whether or not to cut a bigger hole and will probably eventually do so. Besides that everything else about it is great and it works well the click wheel is a little bit slower because of the thin film protecting it but I've gotten use to it. I would recommend getting this for anyone who has an iPod.
