Customer Reviews:

great sound [Posted on 2008-10-28]
as long as you figure out which of the earpieces fit your ears well for the best seal, this is an excellent product.

Very Good Sound for Studying Speach and Diction [Posted on 2008-11-07]
I'm not any kind of audiophile, and so I really can't comment on whether there earbuds are better or worse than other high quality earbuds. However, they are distinctly better than the $29-$49 earbuds that I had previously used. I use the earbuds to study Japanese, and so it is particularly important to me that the sound I hear is accurate. I found that the ER6i provided markedly clearer speach sound than the lower priced Sony earbuds that I had been using.
The earbuds were initially difficult to put in and remove, but after a little practice, this is no longer a concern.
I initially had a problem with the earbuds constantly getting tangled up. To stop this, I purchased some #5 (really small) black O-rings, made one cut to open the ring, and slipped a few onto both headset cords. The O-rings have sufficient rigidity to stay attached to the cords, but can be easily moved down the cord to allow one to waer the earbuds. Or the cords can be released from the O-ring by gentle pulling. Either way, the cords stay together in storage and no longer get tangled. The small black rings blend into the overall look and feel of the earbuds.

Gets the job done...well. [Posted on 2008-11-07]
Pros: excellent noise isolation, small for portability, snug fit inside the ear canal, excellent sound quality, decent bass, decent price.

Cons: you can hear your own heart beating, does not come with alternate sized 3-flange tips for variable fitting, thin wire (which may or may not be an indication of quality), cheap pouch.

This is the first pair of in-ear earphones that I've ever purchased. It is also the first product that I've purchased from Etymotic Research. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and would consider buying from them again in the future.

Great Sound but build quality lacking [Posted on 2008-11-13]
I purchased the earphones in February 2007 and one of earpieces quit working in March 2008 just out of the 1 year warranty. They were used less than 50 times and cared for by an anal retentive adult. The sound was good but my ears would get sore from the earpiece after a while. I have thought about buying another pair because I liked the sound quality but don't want to spend $100 on something that may only last a year.

Awesome... if you get the foam tips [Posted on 2008-11-24]
These are truely amazing earphones (especially if for motorcycling) but be sure to use the Comply foam tip P-series from the ear plug store. The flanged tips never seated correctly for me and I almost returned the earphones until I tried the foam tips. Totally lives up to the hype. It cuts off outside noise (I can't even hear my girlfriend when the music is off) and the sound is top notch. But only with the comply foam tips. Be warned.
