if there was an option for 2.75 stars, thats what id give it, but because i think why i bought this item and the reason it was intended to be used is two different things, ill give it 3 stars

so, i wanted a pair of ipod speakers, bought these, and sort've regretted it ever since.

first off, if you pay anything more than $25 for this, youre outta yer mind.

B. battery life is pretty lame, figure...hour and a half, with normal volume. 4 AA batteries power the speakers (two in each speaker) and it does not ship with an AC adapter. i think you can pick one up from JVC's website for $15 plus S&H, but why not just get a better set of ipod speakers to begin with if you need the AC adapter.

3rd. the buttons are pretty terrible. volume is okay, but track select is hit or miss. i have average size fingers, and about 50% of the time i go to either skip forward or skip backward, i hit the pause button. kinda frustrating.

IV. i just dont like it. i suppose for travel purposes its okay, but i guess if youre traveling with your ipod, use your headphones. if you are in a hotel room or vacationing somewhere or whatever, i still suggest getting a pair of speakers with an AC adapter, even if its still battery powered, you still have an AC adapter to fall back on. batteries be expensive.

five. sound quality is okay. low volume is okay, nothing earth shattering. mid-range volume is okay, on high ends of the sound-spectrum, you can start to hear some distortion on bass and deep sounds, but i suppose thats to be expected. high volume, just forget about it, bass and trebble are equally distorted. like i sortve allueded to earlier, this thing eats batteries. you can tell when your batteries are dying because the sound quality, even on low volume, will just drop off.

the ipod runs on its own power, the 4xAA batteries power the speakers, so dont expect any power-sharing between the two units.

i suppose for traveling, itd be okay. i just dont like the product.
