Customer Reviews:

Did what I needed. Seems like good build quality, a little expensive though [Posted on 2008-01-28]
I bought this because my computer's headphone jack is really strong, and my headphones are really sensitive, so I had the problem of having the volume on the lowest position just to have it at a comfortable level.

So I just plugged this in, and used the inline volume control to "dim" the volume to suitable levels, and turn up the volume on the computer. The sound is better too, because the volume level of 1 on my computer has a lot of internal noise.

A few things I noticed. One, the volume controls have almost no friction, so if you bump the slider, it will move pretty easily, so make sure the max volume isn't going to make you deaf before you use this in an environment where you might bump the headphones.

Second, this works like any passive volume control. It "dims" or attenuates the power level to make it quieter. If you want this to amplify your sound, it won't. Also the maximum attenuation is not going to mute the sound. It goes to about half the volume of the max (that fraction might be dependent on your headphones).

The reason I give it four stars is that it's a little expensive for a couple potentiometers, and some plastic. I know it couldn't have cost ten bucks to make this. More like $0.30. Oh well, that's what I get for not making it myself...

Nice idea - good product [Posted on 2008-03-24]
I use to split the audio output from my HDTV to my earphones or stereo speakers. The volume control feature is a bonus. No problems with them.

disappointed [Posted on 2008-05-12]
I bought this item for use with my iphone but it does not fit so I am very disappointed

Excellent [Posted on 2008-06-14]
Works perfectly! My wife uses it to split her sansa mp3 player into two stereo lines...one for here and one for the baby!

Mostly Good [Posted on 2008-07-12]
Great for keeping two kids from beating each other down. Sliders for volume control a little loose and can be moved easily, but good level control. Do not leave this plugged into a laptop and move around. The pin with bend out of the body fairly easy. It still works, but the pin is at an angle. This is my fault, but the mold around the pin could be stronger.
