Good accessory [Posted on 2008-06-03] This product works well. No problems as of yet. The only thing that holds it back from being a 5 star is when it use it in my car radio you have to turn the volume up substatially louder than the regular radio to hear it.
Better than advertised [Posted on 2008-06-17] Purchased this item for use with the radio on my motorcycle. I was wary after reading some of the negative reviews, but decided to take a chance. Tried three stations until I found one that didn't have any interference. When I turned on the iPOD, I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent quality of the sound. The volume was slightly attenuated, but the radio volume control bumped the volume up over the wind and engine noise. Put the iPOD/iTRIP in my pocket and walked down the driveway and never lost the signal. Thanks for an excellent product.
Griffin ITrip is Ihorrible [Posted on 2008-06-18] The sound quality is very bad. It's easy to use, you just find a station and the Itrip does the rest, but becuase it is running through an FM station, the sound isn't as crisp as if you were listening to the radio itself. If you have a choice, just get an auxillary plug and use that instead.
Good value for cost. Disregard bad reviews! [Posted on 2008-06-19] At first I was skeptical about all those one-star reviews, but the item is very inexpensive so I took the plunge. People who want it to work perfectly right out of the box might be disappointed if they don't know how to configure the product. Some points:
- of course it is not CD-quality sound, or stereo-quality sound, or iPod-quality sound. The signal is being sent over FM airwaves, so it is FM-quality sound, and that is as good as any FM transmitter can provide.
- if the signal has static, change the frequency. The default frequency does not have to be used. My reception was affected by my rear window defogger, for example. When the defogger was on, static broke in. But I changed the frequency by 0.2 and the problem went away. So anyone with the brains to operate the controls on this device should be able to get around the static.
I love this iTrip and recommend it highly!
fantastic FM transmitter for iPod at a great price [Posted on 2008-06-26] This is a fantastic product at a great price. It has worked nearly flawlessly for me, with a bit of radiowave interference in areas with many radio towers, but this occurs less than 0.1% of the time where I live. I left the tuner at the factory setting of 87.9 FM. Highly recommended as a way to play your iPod tunes in your car!
