Decided to upgrade [Posted on 2008-03-05] Overall these were nice earplugs. They blocked out sound as stated by 32db , but I decided to upgrade to Hearos Xtreme Protection(33db), 14-Pair Foam (Pack of 3) which were even better because of their larger size. They cost more though but worth every penny. I recommend also using Headphones additionally (the on-ear type) while this may sound counter-intuitive but actually works very well as a "total" sound blocking system. Make sure that your on-ear headphones have ear cups like the Sony's MDR-V150(only about $22). If you take a large coin/medallion and place them in the ear cups, you can gain additional sound protection along with your earplugs. The heavier the metal that can fit, the better. I sit next to an admin with a loud printer/stapler and a heavy cell phone user on the other side. Believe me, this system works well. Ear plugs alone are good, but in addition to headphones is even better. While you cannot block all sound, but you can block a good portion of it this way. The Ear plugs absorbs sound, while the headphones and heavy coin attempts to deflect the sound.
Doesn't work [Posted on 2008-04-13] I bought this to wear them on the commuter train so I can nap instead of listening to other people's conversations. Well, I was disappointed. It only softened the noises and I can still hear pretty much everything. If you need real sound blocking device, this is not it.
Hearos is correct [Posted on 2008-04-28] Hearoes to save the day. Ok maybe just your hearing. This product is as good as advertised.
Perfect! [Posted on 2008-07-22] I recently got these to help me sleep during the day with my graveyard shift.
Thes are amazing. They expand to fit your canal. Very good on external noise blocking. I've been able to get a good solid nights (ok, day's) sleep with these. Highly recommended.
My favorite earplugs [Posted on 2008-08-25] I've used a lot of earplugs over the years, and I keep coming back to these as the best ones. First of all, they're skin-colored (at least for white people), so they don't draw attention like more brightly-colored ones. Second of all, they're really comfortable to wear. Third, they do a great job of blocking out sound. Highly recommend these earplugs for general use.
Note: if you're going to a concert or something and you still want the sound to be pretty loud (just not extremely), these might actually make the sound *too* quiet. In which case, I'd recommend also getting some lower-NRR-rated earplugs such as the 3M ones you can get at Wal-Mart and seeing which ones you prefer.
