Compact, Stylish, Great Sound [Posted on 2008-10-13] The red color is more like a dark magenta, which I liked even more.
The speaker supplies adapter pieces to dock your nano or shuffle. I have the nano (2G) and tried to dock it using the nano adapter but, the adapter is too narrow so it's useless. Docking the nano without it works fine. It would be nice to use the adapter though because the connector on the nano is off-centered, so when docking, it can get lopsided if not plugged in firmly.
The base has a compartment to put batteries in. I haven't put batteries in yet, but the lid, which has a twist and lock function, is not well built. The slightest turn will open it.
I don't have a charger, so it's great to charge without hooking up to my laptop.
The sound is great. I love it. I play it when I work out from home or cook, and it's great for parties (you can ask friends to bring their ipods to mix playlists).
Incredible [Posted on 2008-10-13] I just bought this dock and am listening to it now. It is well worth $100 with great sound, portibility and the fact it runs on batteries. I have a fairly discriminating ear and the sound is top notch for a very small system. I am using it on the porch of a cottage and the sound fills the room. I am wondering if my neighbors are getting annoyed at the volume. Definitely recommended!
very good [Posted on 2008-10-21] great quality, great power. small, light wheight, rechard ipod, remote control. very very great value
NOT the same color! [Posted on 2008-10-25] If you want to buy this for the red Ipod Nano, don't! The color of the speakers is burgundy and clashes with the red ipod. Not even close! The picture makes it look like the same color. It is anything but! We are sending it back.
Works well, but it's fragile [Posted on 2008-10-26] We bought our JBL on stage micro to play an iPod Touch at home, in the car, and on vacation. It worked well. We liked the versatility and the mobility of the product. Also found that the sound quality is improved by placing it on a hard surface rather than a pad, carpet, sand dune, or towel. Dashboards, desks, tabletops, rocks, etc. seem to make a better platform for the dock.
Okay, here are the few problems.
1. it's broken. The entire weight of the iPod is supported by the electronic connection to the iPod. It slipped off it's perch and the electronic connection was twisted and broken. I suppose I could plug it in with a cord in the rear jack. This, and all such units, should include some mechanical support to the iPod to protect both the iPod and the dock. We were panicked that the fall broke the iPod rather than the dock.
2. No volume control from iPod. All volume control is on the unit. Not a huge problem but it would be nice to have the ability to control volume from the iPod.
