Pretty bad [Posted on 2008-05-14] Tinny, shrill and not especially comfortable; these are not worth the plastic they're made out of.
Great earphones for a small price [Posted on 2008-07-12] I bought a pair of these in the Denver airport-for quite a bit more than Amazon is charging. The spongy earphones are just like foam hearing protectors so they cancel out airplane noise wonderfully and don't take up more room doing it. I no longer have to crank my Sansa up to dangerous sound levels to hear it above road or airplane noise. I also use them on an electric travel guitar with a pocket rock-it preamp that you can plug 1/8" headphones into.
The earphones have to be squished down like a hearing protector to fit in your ears and then they expand. If you just try to mash them in your ears, they will fall out. I would not recommend these earphones for any kind of athletic activity-if your ears get sweaty they will fall out. I would also not recommend them for bicycling or jogging - they cancel out too much road noise and would leave you not able to hear approaching cars.
Some other reviews complain of tinny sound but I have not experienced that.
Not Tinny [Posted on 2008-07-18] Yeah, they sound tinny if you dont put them in right... they're called "marshmallows" for a reason: they're soft and expand to the shape of your outer ear canal. When I first put them in, like you would with the standard iPod style headphones, they sounded weak. But all you have to do is push them in a little more and then they lock in. Once that happens, you get really nice, thick bass! I actually prefer these to the standard iPod headphones which are pretty decent ones too.
Nice sound, short cord [Posted on 2008-08-21] Pros
- Full sound, including bass.
- Comfortable.
- Inexpensive (relatively).
Cons
- Only two "marshmallow" sizes provided. I went for the smaller of the two, and I'm a slightly smaller than the average guy. If you have small features (ear canals), you may not find these comfortable.
Depends
- Short cord -- around 40" (1m). Could be a pro or con depending on your use patterns.
- Made in China.
Don't lose the foam "marshmallow" tips! [Posted on 2008-09-15] I only had these ear buds for three weeks and only used them three days a week. In that short time I lost all four form tips. The cost of replacing one in $2.42 for one foam piece from JVC's website. So basically, the earbuds I have bought are now worthless unless I want to shell out $2.42 and shipping and handling, and wait for the earpieces to arrive in the mail, every time I lose another earpiece.
