Exceptional in two ways.....so so in another [Posted on 2008-05-31] First off, these headphones are way above the competition in price and comfort. There biggest plus is how amazingly well they fit into me ear. Yours' may be different, but the design of the headphones suggests that they would fit snugly in most people's ears.
Their sound is clear, precise, and bright. Like most earbuds, even those in the $100.00 plus range they fail to reproduce the the power of the lower end of the frequency spectrum....bass. But the sound is very pleasing and well rounded.
If you're looking for comfortable, good sounding headphones and don't want to spend $200.00 or more, these are the one's I would recommend.
Best Fit, Sound Quality, and Price [Posted on 2008-07-20] The fit of these JVC earbuds is the best I've tryed so far. The shape keeps them inserted against the ear canal in a fixed position so that the sound is always optimized. This also helps to keep them securely inserted. Other ear buds can turn within the ear and change the sound. Very annoying. Sound quality is great and price is very resonable. The only negative I've found is that the silicone earpieces come off too easily. When moving them, always look to see that they're still attached.
Not working right [Posted on 2008-09-15] I must have received the only defective product made. I see awesome reviews for these, but when I received mine the right ear bud rarely works. If they sit still long enough the sound will start coming through. I gave it 2 stars because the one earbud that works sounds awesome.... I just wish they both did... :(
Great value, and very comfortable. [Posted on 2008-09-16] When I bought these I was a little worried about the comfort. I've had some bad experiences with uncomfortable in-ear headphones. The Amazon user reviews said they were comfortable, so I gave them a shot.
I have to agree. These are extremely comfortable, and they do a great job of blocking outside noise. I use them when I'm mowing the lawn, and it does a good job of blocking some of the mower noise, but not so much as to be dangerous. The sound quality is also excellent. It is very balanced, not too much bass, not too much highs. NOTE: Give the headphones a few weeks to get "broken in" before judging the sound quality. Most headphones need to loosen the speaker drivers before you get the best sound, and this takes a while. If you want to speed this up, plug them into a CD player on repeat and have it play through them at a medium volume overnight for a few nights.
These headphones also feature some nice extras that add a little extra value. They have the little slider that you can slide down the wire to keep the ear pieces together, just like iPod headphones, and they also have a very small plug, which is the same size and shape as the original iPod headphones. It includes 4 sizes of earpieces, so you'll find one that fits just right.
One other note, the picture on Amazon makes the earpieces look a little bulky, but they're not. They will fit even in small ears comfortably. The oval-shaped piece of the earpiece is soft plastic with air inside, so it cushions nicely inside your ear, and keeps them in place, even if they get tugged on a little bit.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality and value of these headphones, and I highly recommend them. You can tell that JVC went back to the drawing board to answer customer's requests for comfort, and borrowed some of the best design elements from other companies. The result is a high-quality, very comfortable set of headphones that are easy to recommend.
Pretty decent headphones, stay in your ears well. [Posted on 2008-10-12] I have tried several kinds of earbuds, and I really like the Creative EP-630 phones. I recently bought some Sony MDR-ex32LP earbuds, and I like those as well. These JVC earbuds have pretty decent sound, could use some more bass, but they seem to have too much 'treble' response. They have great clarity, but depending on the music you listen to it may be too 'bright' and you may have to change to a different EQ setting. They are not as comfortable as the EP-630's or the Sony's either. They do stay anchored in your ears well, which is very helpful if you're running or just working around the house. There is also much less cord noise than with the EP-630.
Overall, the sound quality is decent, they anchor in your ear well without falling out, but they have too much treble response for my taste.
