Customer Reviews:

Muddy sound [Posted on 2008-05-09]
These are not great headphones for music. The bass and midrange is muddy and lacks detail. Vocal details get lost in the mud. The best way to compare the sound is to compare it to listening to a boombox with the bass boosted. Not exactly a quality musical experience. JVC makes better headphones and earphones than this that are much better suited for music listening.

The only way to get excited about these headphones is to factor in the discounted price they are available at.

The best use for these headphones would be gaming or movie use. The boosted bass and sonic impact make the headphones better suited for those uses.

The headphones are easy to drive and more than adequately driven by an iPod, laptop, or computer sound card. You'll get plenty of volume. They are also reasonably comfortable.

Very Good. [Posted on 2008-07-19]
Well, these headphones were the bomb when i first got them. They lasted a good year, with highest quality performance. Of course, these aren't any bose beauties or Sennheiser awesomes, but they certainly did the job. however, after a good year, the bass just died. i was not getting that thumping knock i loved about these headphones. These were used everyday, and i am just not getting that thump anymore. i would definitely recommend them though.

Amazing Sound for Cheap Headphones [Posted on 2008-09-04]
When I plugged these in and played my music in Winamp, it sounded amazing. I use Izotope Ozone to enhance the sound of my music in Winamp and it makes the music sound even better. Even without the sound enhancement software, these headphones are amazing to use and best of all, they were cheap to purchase. JVC usually makes quality products, so that's why I made my choice on these.

Haven't experienced any kind of problems and I'm glad I got these. Definitely will be buying another pair. Great feel. Great cord length. Great Bass. Thanks to Amazon for great shipping.

Great Headphones, Great Price [Posted on 2008-10-09]
Great Headphones, low price, really a great buy. The cord is really long too, which is pretty convenient.

I think JVC purchased most of the reviews for this product [Posted on 2008-11-25]
So I'm just throwing this out there, but there are many companies that will hype a product in exchange for a small amount of money. Reviews can be purchased. "People who find the review helpful" can be purchased. The glowing reviews these headphones have received strike me as too overwhelmingly positive.

I used these headphones for a year, and I admit, they weren't so bad for the first few months, but as I got to know them, I became intimately aware of their flaws. I am a programmer, and I use my headphones to listen to music for four or five hour periods at a time, totalling about ten hours a day.

1. The bass sounds like it's being filtered through someone's rear end. Yes, it's kind of loud, but it's muddy and fake-sounding, as if all frequencies below a certain threshold just get aggregated into a wet fart that comes out of the speaker. To be fair, I can see how, if you are used to tinny PC speakers and other headphones in the ten dollar price bracket, you might confuse this farting sound for bass.

2. They are wickedly uncomfortable. It's like JVC did focus groups to figure out just how bad of a headache they could give you. They don't squeeze your head, so if you wear them for half an hour or so, they don't really hurt, but if you want to listen to them for more than an hour or so, there is a particular way that their weight pulls on your ears and drags them down.

3. For some reason, people keep saying they are comparable to Sennheisers. That's like saying vinegar tastes like champagne. If you only want to listen to things for about half an hour at a time, and you're happy with bass that sounds like a wet fart, (it's better than no bass, I guess, might be the philosophy?) then these headphones will probably suit you very well. But if you care even a little bit, get a pair of headphones in the thirty dollar range, such as Koss Portapros or sony mdr-xd200s or something.

On the low end of headphones, you get what you pay for.
