Rugged enough for constant use [Posted on 2001-12-02]
I've travelled nearly 250,000 miles with my laptops, papers, accessories, etc in one of these, and it's proven itself up to the task.

The front pocket is useful for storing business cards, O'Reilly pocket guides, passport(s), tickets, etc. for easy access. The large main pocket has a padded space for a laptop (my Dell fits it either way around) and on my model has 4 dividers that are useful for keeping CD cases and cables disentangled. The shoulder straps / backpack straps can be detached and/or hidden inside the case for a more professional look (though if I needed to care more about presentation I would probably have a regualar briefcase)

After 2 1/2 years of constant use the padding in the shoulder straps is starting to become compressed, and there are some tears on the vinyl inside, but give how much use I've made of this backpack this is probably normal wear and tear.

Well constructed, solid bag for very little money! [Posted on 2007-02-18]
As a journalist, I needed a bag that was durable, lightweight, and most importantly, could carry all my stuff around on my multiple cross country trips. The fact that the Saddlebag was so cheap was a definite bonus.

I'm tremendously impressed by how well it displaces the weight on your shoulder so that you dont get fatigued, and the compartments inside are huge and really well padded. Unless you have $300-$400 to spend on a laptop case, I'd go with the Saddlebag over anything else.

So far so good [Posted on 2008-01-14]
I needed a new computer bag to take with me on trips and purchased this Kensington case. All I have to say is so far so good. It is easy to take along with a rolling bag to the airport. It doesn't slow me up through airport security and it stores right under the seat on the airplane.

Great bag. I have 4 of them! [Posted on 2008-01-29]
This is by far my favorite laptop bag. I bought my first Kensington Saddlebag back in 2000 or '01 and have put over 100,000 flight miles on it before it developed a rip in the side. Kensington replaced it for FREE under the lifetime warranty in late 2007. I've also bought 3 more of these bags for laptops at my company and all of my employees love them, too. They even bought the same bags for their personal computers. That's a true testimony.

I love the small front flap pocket, perfectly sized for a boarding pass. The zippered flap packet holds my ear buds and my keys, wallet, belt, etc as I go through TSA. The little inside pockets hold all of the odds and ends that go with the laptop (remote, Ethernet cable, business cards, pens) while the main compartment easily holds magazines, DVD's, newspapers, an extra HD, and my AC adapter! If I'm really punishing the bag, I've even been known to carry a 2nd laptop in the middle compartment, too. The bag gets way heavy, then, but it's never given out!

Pretty Good Bag [Posted on 2008-04-29]
I just emailed Kensington to get a 2nd replacement strap - the original strap and a 1st replacement tore at midpoint. So while I was checking out the model number on Amazon I thought I'd give my two cents.

I've had this bag for close to 10 years. My first 8 years it carried my laptop and cabling tools, etc every day at work so I put it through some real tough times. I've always had real heavy loads in so I won't dock my 5 start rating because it's been my pack mule. When it got real heavy I used the two backstraps and carried it like a knapsack and it was comfortable. Most of the time I used the single sling and it's comfortable. Now that I'm retired I don't carry as much so sometimes I just grab it by the foam handle and it's a good grip. I thought it was a little expensive before I bought it but I'm glad I did as it is a quality bag, lasted a long time, and still looks pretty good. It's also real light empty - surprising for the beating it can take.
Kensington replaced the first two straps with no problem so it's nice to see them stand behind their product.
