Customer Reviews:

K [Posted on 2008-09-01]
I received the K and I really like it. It's very simple to use, and I've not had any issues with it. (My husband even thought it was a good idea for me to purchase this.) It goes everywhere with me. If it had come in a different color, I would of liked black. My Mom reads a lot also, and I am actually thinking of getting her one for Christmas.

shefl saver [Posted on 2008-09-01]
THE BEST IDEA IN YEARS. i WAS RUNNING OUT OF SHELF SPACE!!!! NOW I CAN SAVE THE BOOKS TO AN sD CARD!!!!

Sorry I waited so long! [Posted on 2008-09-02]
After months of reading reviews, and hesitating, I went ahead and ordered the Kindle with the $100 off offer with Amazon credit card application.(I can cancel the card when I pay the bill...)
I was impressed with the case. If it isn't leather, it sure fooled me. I added 2 pieces of Velcro, to keep the cover secure, as others have suggested. It appears this will do a good job of protecting my investment. I find it very comfortable to hold, and have had no problems with hitting the page buttons accidentally, as some of the negative reviewers have stated.
The display is a wonder of technology. I have had no eyestrain problems, because the display is not "lit", like a computer. It's like reading a "real" book. The screen savers are a treat.
I was amazed with the speed of delivery, when I ordered my first book. I love the ability to preview a book by reading several pages. Many times have I bought a book, only to find it doesn't hold my interest, and I am out the cost. With the preview feature on the Kindle, those days are over. I feel the price for books is reasonable, compared to buying them in a bookstore or even a discount warehouse club. It's nice that the books are stored by Amazon, if I ever want to read them again, which is unlikely! (This way I don't have to worry about overloading my Kindle).
I have ordered the clip on light that others have recommended, but I found it very comfortable to sit in my chair with a reading lamp nearby, so may not even need it.
I am an avid reader, and I think I have found something that will bring me a lot of use and enjoyment.

The future in my hands! [Posted on 2008-09-02]
I got my kindle 4 weeks ago and love it. If you love to read and filled up all your bookshelfs arround your house and are just sick of dusting them, get yourself a kindle too.

I always read it with the cover on so I feel like I am reading a real book. The text is clear and looks like a real bookpage and the forward and backward button is easy accessible. The only thing that I have a problem with is, that I don't have page numbers - never knew you can miss them but it is kinda weird not knowing how many more pages you have to read till the end. I also like the basic internet and the word lookup. I am not an english native and if i don't know what the word means I can just easily look it up. All around it is just great and I am feeling I have the future of book reading in my hands.

Travel toy or not? [Posted on 2008-09-02]
I bought my new toy to use for travel so I don't have to schlep six or eight books in my suitcase. The trip got canceled but I'm using the Kindle anyway at home. The print is easier to read, the "book" is lighter, and I have a couple of recent bestsellers ready to read. I love it. In spite of being computer phobic, I found the Kindle easy to use and the tech help patient and ever ready. What a joy!
