Customer Reviews:

DO NOT PURCHASE [Posted on 2007-02-05]
Over the years I have purchased several makes and models of wireless earphones.headphones ranging in price from25 to 200 dollars. I am famaliar with comfort and range of sound being received from transmitter.
This product is awful to say the very least. I am not sure why it is even manifactured. The ear phones fall off constantly if one can even get them on. The clip on receiver is cumbersome and can not be covered in the least bit. The transmitter has to be way above ones head in order not to interfear with transmission. It can not be used near one's computer if you have any wireless items hooked up to computer. And on top of all of that weather used on computer, stero or tv. you can not move more than four to five feet away from transmitter for any reception at all. I do not mean just a bit of interferance or static. There is just no sound. Forget going into another room....ha ha ha...No such thing is possible. I would return the product but because everything that I have ever ordered from Amazon works so nicely. I threw away the container it was packed in, shipping invoice and shipping box. It is now in the garbage can where it should be. Please do not waste your money even if you are buying for a child. VERY VERY INFERIOR PRODUCT

Attempted to return item... [Posted on 2007-03-08]
After receiving the item, I came to the realization that it was not what I wanted and I have been trying to return this item ever since. After calling the company to return it, I was told that I had to send an e-mail in order to get a return code. So, I followed the company's rules and sent an e-mail requesting a return code. That was about three weeks ago and I haven't heard or received anything from them.
I am still in possession of the item and wish to return it for a refund, however; I've not had any luck getting a response from this company. I'm quite certain I won't buy anything from them in the future.

"Wireless" - Well, technically, yes. [Posted on 2007-07-22]
I have a severe hearing problem and I use special "ear hooks", rather than headphones, that work with my hearing aids. I used to have a wireless setup that replaced the headphones with a receiver that you plugged your own headphones into. This worked great - I could even go outside my house and still get reception because these used a Radio Frequency (RF) signal. Unfortunately, and after many years, they bit the dust.

I did a lot of searching and finally found the Koss HB60. In my excitement at finding a replacement, I didn't think about the fact that these used an Infra-Red (IR) signal. The difference is frustrating.

When they say that IR is line-of-site, they ain't kidding. Wander too much to the right or left, go behind a door, turn your back on the transmitter, or slip the receiver into a pocket and you can kiss the signal goodbye - even standing within the tiny range (20-30ft.) of the receiver.

You might as well be connected with a wire, after all.

I know that this all is just the way it is with IR, and I suppose they work as they should within the confines set by IR.

My suggestion: stick with RF, if you can. I'm still searching for that perfect replacement.

Good product [Posted on 2008-01-14]
Good product for its intended use. Which is a wireless headset for the room you are in. Infared signal is fairly narrow, think TV remote.

Requires TV to have a headphone jack [Posted on 2008-01-18]
As others have noted, the headphones Koss supplies are not very good. I'm currently using another brand of headphones with the transmitter. Moreover, I've only used the transmitter with a radio since it will not work with my TV (a high end flat screen Panasonic). It seems that most of the newer TVs do not include a headphone jack and the Koss system is not compatible with a TV's audio out. In short, to use the transmitter with a TV you have to run the audio out signal through another device (such as a hi-fi, or a radio) that has a headphone jack. Presumably, there is not enough signal strength otherwise. I could, of course, use my radio as an intermediary, but what a pain. I can't be enthusiastic about a product which doesn't support one of its most obvious potential uses (namely, using it with a modern TV).

I got this product since my investigations indicated I could use it with headphones that suppress background noise (none of which seem to have a wireless option). In particular, when exercising on my treadmill, I find it hard to hear my wall mounted TV, particularly with DVDs, so this seemed like it would provide a nice solution. However, as noted earlier I can't use it with the TV without adding in an intermediary device. Given the general drawbacks of IR as a transmission mechanism, it just hasn't been worth fiddling around with it in this manner, so I purchased a nice pair of Sennheiser wireless headphones for use with the treadmill (I've reviewed them separately). The cost is about twice that of the Koss system, but they have proven to be completely satisfactory and are hassle free (plus they automatically recharge when you place them back on their stand). If your investigation has been along the same lines I've taken, I suggest you look for another option than Koss's product and particularly consider Sennheiser wireless headphones. Of the options available, I found Sennheiser to be the one most consistently favored. Having lived with Sennheiser wireless headphones for several months now I'm quite glad that is the direction I ended up taking.
