Customer Reviews:

Okay sound, but.... [Posted on 2008-03-18]
These headphones are not bad sounding for the price, but they have one fatal flaw: Anyone sitting in a ten foot radius can hear your music just as well as you can. Even at low volumes, these headphones are audible to anyone in the proximity.

Great headphones...ideal for the money! [Posted on 2008-03-31]
I have tried many, many, maaaaany different brands and models of headphones to only be disappointed most of the time. However, these were a true gem. Not only have I had them for well over a year now, but they were affordable and sound and feel just like the day I bought them. They are plastic, and there isn't a bit of metal on them, but mine haven't broken after having dropped them numerous times.

You may like this if:

-You are tired of the same old, cheap 'live,' 'sea-shell' sound some people tend to prefer. (Don't know why...)

-You are searching for affordable headphones that won't cost you a war pension to just listen to you music.

-Are a casual listener

If you are looking for very rugged headphones for more extensive use other than just casual listening then maybe not. If you are wanting complete sound isolation, there are other headphones made for that. Though, that hasn't shown to be much of a problem with mine, as moderate volume levels are good enough for my ears.

Solid through and through. [Posted on 2008-05-19]
Not a huge audiophile, just so you know. These work very well--completely cover my ears and do a decent job canceling out outside noise. I teach high school English, and my office desk is part of a three-desk pod. When the other two teachers meet with students, no more than 3 feet away, I can adjust the volume and completely block out their conversation--without blasting the music. After 80 minutes of continuous listening, my ears are still comfortable both in terms of inner-ear sound sensitivity and outer-ear pressure from wearing the phones.
Only flaw? I wish the cord was a bit longer. Three feet is a bit of a short leash when I'm connected to my desktop. On the other hand, it's perfect length for carrying around an mp3 player.

Good value for the price [Posted on 2008-05-19]
Comfortable, light weight & provide good range as used primarily with an iPod, MP3 player or desktop CD drive. Using these players the Koss UR40's will not handle the dynamic high/low end ranges from Telarc's "1812 Overture;" otherwise, the headphones give a fair accounting. EMI's "Most Relaxing Classical Album in the World" has never sounded better at work from the CD drive. A friend was amazed at the clarity when used with his iPod & said he had to purchase the UR40. They are not high-end quality, but an exceptional value for the price & highly recommended.

Solid collapsible headphones [Posted on 2008-06-09]
I needed a set of headphones for travel purposes, so I was looking for:
(1) Collapsible
(2) Comfortable to wear for long periods
(3) Not too much sound leakage, nor completely noise-canceling
(4) Solid sound quality

These headphones do fine on all 4 counts. The treble is not great, but it's not bad either, and the headphones are really comfortable. Compared to the Sennheiser PX-100s, these Koss headphones don't fold up into as tiny a unit and are a touch behind in sound quality. In the end, I went with these over those Sennheisers because of the noise issue, since these Koss headphones are better at keeping outside sounds out and inside sounds in, in my opinion. If you're not as concerned about the noise issue, I'd give the nod to the PX-100s over this one.
