Laser MVP-1GB: fun, fun, fun [Posted on 2006-05-15]
I bought the MVP-1GB out of curiosity, to see how good the video is. let's face it- half the price of the Nano, and it plays video!
- disappointing: the instruction sheet is next to useless.
- the audio socket is 2.5mm stereo, not the common 3.5mm.
though the supplied headphones look ok, I used a plug converter (Nokia Ref. ADA-2), and used "good" headphones.
- enjoying: the complete kit (phones, lanyard, silicon case, USB-2 cable). Software installs easily under XP (though there are no instructions), music/movies can by installed by "drag 'n drop"- cool.
the movie conversion software works excellent, very fast. Has even rudimentary editing! Don't forget to set the maximum screen size (default is small), not to be disappointed! I converted .avi from a cheap camera, and .wmv from a download. Quicktime gave me problems (working on it).
The "Help" file is a desaster, "Chinglish" at its worst!
The display is bright& cheerful. (Set photos to its native resolution, 128x128 pixels).
The sound, even on movies, is very good. I watched a 30 min documentary on the MVP-1GB (73 MB), and survived!
The FM radio is fine (has even the Japanese FM band as option!), the reception is good.
There is a phonebook (untried), and a games section (also untried, so far)
Due to the missing instructions, the whole experience is a bit of a 'Mystery Tour', not helped by the machine being relatively slow to respond, but I find it amusing, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. For THAT price, it is highly recommendet!

Close to perfection [Posted on 2006-06-10]
I was sick of my old ipod mini running out of battery after 40 minutes so I decided to buy this really cheap Mp3 player.I was shocked to use the features and the skins that were availible. It has brilliant battery power and great quality AMV support. The software included is brilliant and allows you to convert most files to AMV. There is a few slight issues it has:
- The headpone socket is smaller (although it can be converted)
- You cant scroll through MP3'S
Other than that this is the best MP3 player i have ever had and is better than the ipod products as music can easily be dragged to the mp3 folder (same deal with AMV files).
It is obvious that this is a Ipod nano rip-off...but its a damn good one and weighs less

Not worth [Posted on 2006-06-25]
Though it has many features like, FM, Voice recorder, Video...etc. But doesn't have good battery backup. Battery charge comes down very quickly within 3-4 hrs.
