Works as advertised [Posted on 2008-10-24] This is the second WUSB54GC that I have puchased. The first one was installed on a Windows XP machine about a year ago and it still works fine. The one I recently purchased installed on another XP computer with no problems. Windows XP found the new hardware and installed drivers for it. I did not even have to insert the installation CD. All I had to do was type in the password key for my wireless network and I was done.
Evrything was just PERFECT with this seller [Posted on 2008-10-31] I had a problem with the purchased item. The refund EVERYTHING and payed for the shipping costs. I'm glad to deal with such people. I won't hesitate to buy from them again.
Linksys Wireless-G [Posted on 2008-11-16] Linksys are one of the good Networking products,This USB Wireless-G is a little bit bigger than my USB drive.
Pros: Easy to install, good wireless reception.
Linksys Wireless-G USB Adapter [Posted on 2008-11-17] The Linksys Wireless-G Adapter is a wonderful product that comes with a CD to install the software on the computer. Though I'm saving up to purchase the Linksys Wireless-G Router, the adapter performs it's part perfectly on my computer, in that, my computer says it's connected. At present, I'm simply in need of an internet carrier, which the router will address. I researched this product before purchase and same was highly recommended. I'm happy I made the purchase and recommend this product.
Complete garbage [Posted on 2008-11-19] I attempted to use a WUSB54GC adapter on a Windows 2000 system which runs a (low-bandwidth) server application at startup. Unfortunately, not only does this unit take 1-2 minutes to acquire a DHCP lease -- meaning there's no usable connection when the server process is launched -- but it tends to drop the lease at random intervals once acquired. (This is in a well-characterized WiFi environment with no interferers and other reliable client installations nearby.)
Installation is poor as well; I had to uninstall and reinstall the device before its configuration service would start properly.
In short, the WUSB54GC is a real piece of junk... not recommended under any circumstances.
