Handy gadget works exactly as described! [Posted on 2007-06-08] We love this thing. We had no problem programming it. We even have a radio station at the frequency we are using (107.3) and this is powerful enough to override that station with my audio from my laptop.
We use this to play DVDs in the car for passengers / kids. You may know that most laptop speakers SUCK. We couldnt hear anything and had to get external speakers which ran on BATTERIES to be able to hear the movies. They didnt work well, slid around in the car, and ate batteries!
This solved all of that! Now, the sound broadcasts right out of the cars audio speakers so we have SURROUND SOUND in the car.
It feels pretty sturdy. It came with an extra fuse and direction.
My only complaints are:
It is a little big / bulkty to put in the car jacks / lighter hole in our dash. I have four jacks in my car, and the ones in the dash, it is too big to plug in because of the angle they need plugged in on my car. But if your jack has a little open space around it or faces up a little more, it might be easier for you. We just plug it into a rear seat jack.
The cable that comes with it is no where near the length specified. If it says 3 feet, it might be 18". No issue really, we just used a different cable, easy to get at radio shack or whatever.
We really think this is GREAT! Most folks are using it for IPods or music but we love it for in car DVD players and laptops with DVD players!
constant static [Posted on 2007-10-20] purchased from walmart terrible reception. Ordered from mach speed technologies fm transmitter with remote that works great no static like the roadmaster unit. and it was cheaper with remote to boot.
works but not the best! [Posted on 2007-12-18] The external audio connection to an mp3 player works fine, but couldn't make use of the usb port for playing music from flash drives. Another issue is that in big cities. Since there are practically no free fm channels there's a lot of interference going on and hence the quality is not great.
I haven't seen it since I bought it. [Posted on 2008-02-08] I bought this for my truck and my husband borrowed it and now he won't give it back. He loads his usb thumbdrive with music and off he goes. I guess I will have to buy another one for my truck. My mother wants one for my fathers truck since it doesn't have a cd player this would be a perfect present. I had it in my car for a day and it works really awesome. Ordering another one now. Bye
it works [Posted on 2008-04-08] It works well, the only gripe I have is that it always starts from the beginning when using the flash card after re starting the car.
