Apple iPod Shuffle Dock - Works but Overpriced [Posted on 2007-11-17]
This replacement dock is slightly better and cheaper than the one provided by Apple for the Shuffle. However, it is still overpriced. This product does work, but there are alternatives ranging from 40 cents to $5 that will do the same job.
This fills a product need created by Apple. If this was made better the Docks wouldn't break so easily. Normal USB adapters should have been included with the product instead of the mini-doc, or at least backup cables. A standard USB port connection could also have been used.
Check out the alternatives which are much more reasonably priced.

Having a backup dock or adapter is a must for your iPod shuffle. It just doesn't make sense to buy the expensive replacements.

I prefer the travel dock to the standard dock packaged with the iPod Shuffle due to its lack of a cable. If your USB ports are in a tight fit region of your computer, this may be a problem as the dock is a little bulkier than most thumb drives or flash drives these days. However, you don't have to worry about the tangle associated with a cable. So far the device has not had a problem and works just the same as the normal dock. It also comes with some handy plastic caps for the USB end as well as the iPod jack.

I recomend this item to anyone seeking to replace a broken shuffle dock. Overall it is a much more compact and sturdy unit then the original. I plugged it into my laptop and my computer registered the ipod without a single problem.

I was a little weary of purchasing a third party product for my shuffle, but after using it, it's better than the original. It looks much better on my computer because there are no wires involved. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a iPod Shuffle dock.
