Customer Reviews:

**NOT** designed for active users [Posted on 2008-08-18]
This product is absolutely false advertising. One of their product features described on Motorola's website for S9:
--> Water and sweat resistant

I bought this item for the main purpose of working out and it was a complete disappointment. I already own a Motorola HT820 for years and I've had no problem using it during my workouts and runs. The only thing that is somewhat anoying with the HT820 is the fact it's a little bulky on the ears when running. When the S9 came out and I saw this *sweat resistant* feature, I decide to get it. Boy was I wrong in making that decision. It was fine working with my laptop and my phone without doing any activity. I then went on for a long run and I was sweaty. Guess what - The headset's volume went all the way down to min and I had no way to adjust it upward. All my volume buttons were completely broken (shorted out). Pressing on them would not yield any result. After spending a lot of time thinking that it was my phone and tried to fix my phone, I tested with bluetooth from my laptop and I came to conclusion that something was wrong with the S9. I started googling around and sure enough, I found numerous other users having the exactly same issue:

http://blog.treonauts.com/2007/05/treo_a2dp_stere.html.

So bewarned: Sweat and your headset is gone. Don't even think about the rain.

I had no doubt that if I contacted S9 and got another pair, I would have run into the exact same problem since other people tried that solution already and nothing was better after getting their 2nd or 3rd pair.

Motorola. Fix the product feature description to reflect what your product can really do!

Don't SWEAT in them! [Posted on 2008-08-19]
These were purchased for the purpose of exercising in, which I'm sure is the reason most people purchase them. They're pretty pricey and are great until...you sweat! Then the volume stops working right, among other things. So my suggestion for any future purchaser would be, PLEASE don't waste your money unless you intend on keeping them 100 percent dry ALL the time.

Worked OK for about 6 mo. then wouldn't charge. Called support they said, send it back. Packed up everything, headset, charger, manual, in orig. box, sent it back. They send back headset only, no charger, can't charge. Call support again, they say, sorry, will send charger 2nd day express - three days ago.
Meanwhile, charge headset using USB from computer which they say not to do, although charger has a USB plug. Works for 5 to 40 minutes then dies.
Read bad reviews on this product.
Headset: junk.
Support: junk.

Going on pair #3 ~ Not sweat resistant at all! [Posted on 2008-08-29]
I love these headphones for working out. I don't love the fact that I have destroyed 2 of them already.

It took some doing to get them to pair with my computer due to my Vista 64 OS and getting the right WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack.

After about 3 weeks, the controls start tweaking out, the fast-forward and rewind activate even when not pushed; after about 4-5 weeks, the audio starts to decrease even with the volume maxed out. I work out for 2-3 hours, 5-6 days per week and I think this is causing the moisture to penetrate the electronics. This is the 2nd pair that has followed the same timeline.

Great while it lasted... [Posted on 2008-08-31]
I purchased these headphones in spite of several reviewers stating that there were issues with the controls. I found that the down volume control ceased to function after only 2 weeks of fairly sweaty use (5k/day).
I found that Motorola was less than helpful when I requested a replacement device.
On the plus-side, the headphones are incredibly comfortable and convenient.
I just expected them to operate reliably for a longer time (even with the sweaty conditions I subjected them to).
