Freakin' GREAT! [Posted on 2008-01-10] Like other reviewers, I found my new iPod Touch's headphone wire annoying.
So I ordered these based on the positive reviews. The only negative I can give so far is that the batteries were dead when I opened the box and my set required a full 2 hours to charge before I could use it. Unlike another reviewer, I received exactly what was pictured, including the Motorola D650 bluetooth adaptor.
Once charged, I followed the handy quick start instructions and was connected to my phone (Motorola Razr) in less than 30 seconds and 30 seconds after that I was listening to Unwritten Law streaming out of my iPod. The setup process couldn't be easier. A few test calls to verify the pausing / restart and sound quality of calls and I was off and running, literally & figuratively!
Comfort is surprisingly good and they are very secure. I put the larger rubber cover over the ear buds but found they muffled outside noises too much for my taste. I'll be switching to those next time I'm on an airplane though.
I then spent the rest of the evening experimenting with the range. I have a 3-story townhouse with a central stairwell. On the same level, there is never a dropout. The worst case I had was when I placed the iPod in the laundry room in the far front corner of the basement and went all the way upstairs. Sound quality started to drop when my head wasn't turned in the right direction... but I was 40+ feet away and separated by 2 floors and 2 walls.
I've since used them outside, where the microphone picks up a bit too much wind noise for my taste (it's bearable, just more than I'm used to with my Plantronics), and at the gym, where not having to shift a headset cord every time I switch equipment makes it all worth it.
Here I am 2 days later and the battery still hasn't died. The headset has had at least 60 minutes of phone calls (I don't use it in the car), and well over 6 hours of podcasts & music.
Moto Rokr S9 Bluetooth headphones [Posted on 2008-01-12] I mainly bought this product to use at the gym with my 5th Gen Ipod. I have no desire to use it with my phone nor do I have a music player cell phone.
The only thing I had a problem with was the merchant that I bought the ipod adapter from, they sold me a different one than what was shown. I asked for a refund for the adapter and they did refund me, but only $10 which means I paid more for the head set. If I knew they were going to take advantage of me that way I would have bought the headphones from someone else.
I ended up buying a Sony blue tooth adapter for my ipod, everything works great. Sometimes when I'm at the gym stretching out the music will tend to cut out. I think it's because of the metal of the structure that I'm around. Other than that I wear my ipod on my hip and while working out I haven't had any issues. I have small ears so there isn't a air tight fit when it comes to the ear buds but the sound quality still sounds pretty good. I find myself habitually pushing the ear buds tighter into my ear.
I bought them because I didn't like having wires hanging off my face while moving around. These are perfect for me. I understand now why the back of the headphones don't rest directly behind your ears, it's because when you're working out your head will rest on the bench and when you put your head back it would have rested on the headphones, but Motorola took that into account and made the headphones rest below that portion of the head. Make sense?? You'll get it once you've tired it.
Not so hot! [Posted on 2008-02-26] I purchased these headphones for use with my iPod and Motorola phone. The pairing isn't very good with the iPod, takes fiddling with, constant turning on and off to get it to pair. The sound is awesome, but they're only useful for walking, mostly. The headband across the back of your head gets in the way if you want to relax and listen to music while sitting. I don't recommend them for anything but walking or running activities.
S9 Motorola wireless headphones [Posted on 2008-03-04] I really enjoyed my S9 headphones the first week but was enormously disappointed when they stopped working after just a couple of workout sessions due to moisture. This product was clearly advertised as "sweat resistant" and when you use it in a simple moisture environment, the buttons get stuck and stop functioning.
To add insult to injury, the local Motorola representative in Canada (tel 1800-461-4575), refuses to honor the warranty because I bought this product via Amazon.com, even though I provided the serial number and any other proof of purchase. That was definitely my last purchase of a Motorola product ever.
I found a website with tons of references of customers victim of the same scam if you need further evidence of how terrible this product is. The link is [...]
wireless sounds [Posted on 2008-03-25] There is a price to pay for the freedom the S-9 gives you from the wires you hate to wear. Though cool and easy to install and use with little interference, the S-9 does not match up to good sound isolating earbuds from the quality aspect. Perhaps the next generation. When I accidentally lost the ear pieces, replacements were unavailable and the manufacturer suggested I return the unit for replacement.
