iPod Adapter Worthless, Headset Microphone Embarrassing [Posted on 2007-10-03] I had a lot of hope for this kit. I had planned to use it to use it to listen to my iPod while working out, mowing the lawn, etc...and listen to my computer at work, and answer my phone while doing so.
Well...here's the thing. The iPod adapter loses power/disconnects/needs to pair with the headset with the slightest jiggle. That makes it useless for anything remotely active. I was testing it our while preparing dinner and it lost connection every time I bent over to pick something up. I even tried it in the ridiculous armband that came with the kit, and even the slightest jostle made it disconnect...which made the picture of the runner on the packaging pretty laughable.
The sound quality on the headset is great though, so I figured that if the calls I could place with my cell phone sounded ok, then I would keep them and use them as wireless headphones for my computer/cell phone.
Unfortunately, the microphone sounds like hell, so they are going back.
I am awarding the product two stars because it met two of my needs, fit and sound quality. If all you need is a set of bluetooth headphones to work with another adapter or PC, the S9 is a good headset...which you can buy separately.
needs improvement [Posted on 2007-10-22] Ditto the other review.. I loved it for the first few days working out, then it started getting complicated. Turning it on while streamed w/ my cell phone seemed impossible even after re-reading the instructions; so I just shut off my cell phone bluetooth connection to get my ipod to play. Then I noticed every time I wanted to turn it on it would have to be plugged in first even though I had just recharged it the day before (standby is supposed to be 150hrs). The lights which indicate the status didn't match what the instructions specified- a constant red light sometimes, no light at all others. During my last jog on a slightly windy day in NYC the connection was constantly interrupted. I tried the play button over and over every time it paused itself looking to connect, and now, the headset doesn't even turn on despite plugging it in again. There isn't a reset button and I don't know what else to do except send it back.
Today ClearAV NEVER AGAIN!!! [Posted on 2007-12-12] I ordered: 1 of Motorola Wireless Active Headphone Kit for iPod and Cell Phones(MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Active Headphones + Motorola D650 Bluetooth Adapter for iPod +
I received only the Headphone and nothing else. Where is the Motorola D650 Bluetooth Adapter???
IPOD adapter is horrible, but headset works great with my phone [Posted on 2007-12-19] I had the same problems with the IPOD adapter. It was very choppy when trying to jog outdoors. I had trouble just trying to get it to connect with my ipod. It's very impractical to use for jogging or other activities outdoors as the connection to the IPOD adapter is flimsy. I finally tried jogging with the headset paired with my LG chocolate phone and it works fine. I would give the headset at least 4 stars alone but the IPOD adapter is what brought it down.
Great Concept, Bad implementation [Posted on 2008-02-08] Just like all the other reviewers, had a lot of expectation from these headphones. All went well and I really liked it till... I went to the gym. The headphones circuitry was shortcircuiting with sweat. The buttons are very timid and would short constantly increasing or decreasing the volume or skip to the next song. The first time I was able to shut it off let it dry and revive it. However, the second time this happened, it died. I talked to motorola about the problem, but they could not tell me anything more than that the product was supposed to be sweatproof( which is why anyone would buy an" active" headphones. They could not tell me that the problem has been rectified in the newer designs. Anyway have sent it out to them and am expecting a replacement. Fingers crossed...
