Great cable at a cheap price [Posted on 2006-11-14] This speaker cable works great, and the price is right! Get some banana plugs and hook these up to your speakers. I immediately noticed a huge difference from the speaker wire that came with my speakers. I haven't made any comparisons with this wire to more expensive wire, but I doubt that there is much of a difference if any at all.
a fine cable [Posted on 2007-12-29] this 12 gauge cable gives me peace of mind to run long lengths without large cable impedance. it is a nice and heavy cable, and the insulation is joined between two strands and are appropriately labeled through the entire length so yo don't get the + and - mixed up.
according to the label, this label is 259 strands of 36 gauge wire wound together. The insulation is nice and thick and the + strand has a square shaped insulation while the minus end has round insulation. i would buy again for sure if the need came around.
Good wire for the money [Posted on 2008-02-15] A great deal for the money. These are heavy duty with ultra fine strands of copper. That makes for a good sound due to low resistance if you have a high power and/or long run application. One caveat: use a high quality wire stripper when stripping the plastic cable jacket. The thin wires will break easily and one can end up with a 14 gauge wire at the ends if stripping is not done meticulously. I do wish they were insulated but, at this price, they are a bargain.
Speaker cable [Posted on 2008-03-01] Very good volume level for a 50 ft run aven for my old sony speaker I am using for a the center channel. Good price and good jacket. The cable I almost used was the same price but 16 gauge and not even pure oxygen copper. The vendor I got this from repackaged it so I was short changed 1 foot. Not Pheonix golds fault. If I need more calbe down the road I will buy from them because they have pure oxygen free copper with finer strand at the price of cheeper cables and the jacket is both marked for polarity and every foot is marked.
Almost too heavy to connect to my Onkyo Reciever.
Great price for the "Monster Cable Killer" [Posted on 2008-03-10] It's a well known secret among electical engineers that Noel Lee (founder of Monster Cable) really hit the marketing jackpot with his product. Unless one is running cable for hundreds of feet, the promises of MC are pretty irrelevant to home AV users.
This product gives you the right speaker wire (12 gauge) in an excellent package at a pretty reasonable price (although one could of course simply buy 12/2 gauge in lengths appropriate for the a/v task as direct burial low-voltage yard lighting cable sold at Home Depot or Loewes). These reels are a fine product at a great price.
