Great pair of $20 Headphones [Posted on 2008-05-05]
I am no audiophile, so this is more of a review for someone just looking for a pair of great sounding earbuds without spending alot of money. These fit the bill perfectly. As other people have mentioned, there is no active noise-reduction, just simple noise blocking by a snug fit. I used the standard size inserts that came attached, and have found them comfortable and well fitting, even after 4 hours of wear. I am completly happy with them. So why 4 stars?
I would really rate them 4 1/2 if that was an option. My only qualm is that there is no slider to hold the earbuds together, like on standard iPod earbuds. This is particularly important to me because of how I store them when not in use. However, I have gotten over this small issue, and enjoy having these headphones.

The JBuds are not the best earbuds you can buy - they're just the best your can buy for under $150. In my book, they represent a really great value. As I tend to lose, break, or mangle headphones, I can purchase (or re-purchase) 7-8 pairs of JBuds for what a good-to-great pair would cost me.
The JBuds are comfortable, give really good sound over a broad range of musical tastes, and look great on a black iPod. Search no more, JBud-dy!

Personally i've always been very against earbuds, for no other reason then the fact i've only ever used the very cheap pairs that have come with walkmans etc. They're always super wide, and cause my ear tons of irritation, even after a simple 30min use. Something that makes these earbuds great is they've taken away my skepticism of earbuds having to be uncomfortable. The tips that were packaged felt great in my ear, and i could picture having them in my ears for long durations without discomfort.
I am an audiophile and musician, so i know good sound, listening to music consistantly on $1000 dynaudio monitors. However i adjusted my expectations accordingly since i got these for only $15. I found that on my ipod, the smiley eq (ie. rock) tended to be one of the best as treble seems to be a bit in the background, and the bass becomes a bit richer, while the mid is very audible. Overall the sound is very adequite for the pricerange, but it sounds a bit like its coming through a tube. You're not getting that crytal clear in your face, the singer is standing right beside me kind of feeling. However that may be a lot to ask for $15. I may consider an upgrade to a higher quality pair, i only hope they'll have the same if not better comfort as the jbuds. I wouldn't throw these away though as they'll definitely be a great backup.

Amazing headphones for the price of $20! Very comfortable and fits well in the ear. Sound is good. Wire is definitely long enough.

Ok, so the initial impression was that these weren't too bad, but with a bit of extended listening, I really found that I didn't like them. The fact that they used plastic as an enclosure wasn't so much a problem as they just didn't do it right. A LOT of resonance created from this and really made the listening experience disappointing. I had a pair of Etymotic ER-6 earphones and I'm not about to compare those to it as that isn't fair and would be like comparing a Toyota Corolla to a Lexus SC430. That said, I did find a pair of earphones that for the money just flat out smoked these and if you take into account super saver shipping vs. these not having it, you're looking at just 15 dollars more for real earphones. The Denon AH-C351K (the K is for Black...they have white ones too, so just search Amazon for AH-C351) They are wonderful out of the box and then once they get broken in, they rock. Nothing else at that price point is close. The 551 is a little nicer, but costs a bit more. The 351 is wonderful for the price and you won't be disappointed. Pass these on by and get something that you'll appreciate and are built better and will last longer.
