Save a fortune! [Posted on 2007-01-19] Wroks just as well as a $400 hearing aid. Why waste money on something you don't need?
OK PRODDUCT [Posted on 2007-05-06] IT'S GOOD TO LISTEN TO THINGS THAT R NOT TOO FAR AWAY. IF YOU PUT THE VOLUME ALL THE WAY UP AND YOU HAVE IT CLIPPED TO ANYTHING ON YOU THE SOUND OF THE MOVEMENT OF CLOTHING OVER POWERS EVERYTHING ELSE IF YOU BRUSH UP AGAINST IT IT WILL SOUND SO LOUD. THE BEST USE FOR IT IS TO HOLD THE AMPLIFIER IN YOUR HAND AND KIND OF POINT IT TO WHAT U WANT TO LISTEN TO.
OVERALL OKAY PRODUCT
Personal Sound Amplifier [Posted on 2007-05-31] This is a great product. However, it's so good that you can hear ALL sounds around you, not just what you're trying to hear. It's hard for the buds to stay in the ears.
Low quality product, you get what you pay for [Posted on 2007-11-03] I didn't expect much from this product due to the low price, so I was not surprised that the quality of the product was very low, and so was the performance. As a previous review noted, every sound is amplified if the volume is too high, and it doesn't help if the volume is lowered. I tested the device sitting 8-10 feet away from the TV, and found that I there was more clarity if I didn't use the PSA! If the volume is increased, you begin to pick up every sound, including your hand holding the device, the friction of the cables and device with your clothing, etc. Do not purchase this product if you want a device that will actually work. Invest a little time and more money for a better device (I don't know if such a device exists at a price below, say, $100).
There's one born every minute... [Posted on 2008-02-29] Dilemma: Is Maxi-Aids aware they're selling shoddy merchandise? (the Personal Sound Amplifier is so flimsy it doesn't work!) Or they just accidentally shipped me a sub-standard unit?
Upon notifying them the unit is useless, I promptly received a polite reply from customer service, advising me they were sending me an envelope so I could return the defective unit, THEN they would issue a replacement. That was one month ago. Are they hoping I will forget about this, or is snail mail really slow?
Bottom line: don't waste your money buying this product.
