Customer Reviews:

Great Sound but Poor Manufacturing [Posted on 2006-07-21]
But they break easily! The plastic just above the earpiece shatters.

I had a pair of these two years ago and I swore by them. The sound quality was great! They keep out most of the noise outside the headphones. And the bass comes through nicely. That first pair lasted me about a year before it broke. Which is fine. I don't expect anything to last more than one year. The plastic just above one of the ear pieces shattered.

I recently ordered another pair. Only about a month ago. And they just broke. In the exact same place that the first pair broke. I was hoping that the first one was a fluke, but I guess it's just poor manufacturing istead.

Good sound, bad design [Posted on 2006-10-01]
These headphones sound amazing. There's a great frequency range and, as with most headphones that cover your entire ear, you don't hear very much outside noise. They also fold up neatly, which is great for travel.

However, they're poorly designed. My pair snapped at the point where the ear cups attach to the headband. I looked for a new pair online and started looking at customer reviews. Almost every reviewer's pair had snapped in the same way that mine had. Philips doesn't even have these listed on their website anymore, so I can only assume they've been discontinued.

If you're looking for a similar pair, try Maxell's Digital Foldable Full Ear Headphones. The model number is HP-550F, and they're about the same price as the Philips. I've had mine for a year and they're still in great shape.

Snapped after a month! [Posted on 2007-01-16]
It was a great month - these headphones have excellent sound and bass. I loved them. But they snapped in exactly the same place as the previous two reviewers had them snap, and mine only after a month! On closer examination, it is indeed a poorly designed pair of headphones - the plastic is extremely thin at precisely the place where the headphones experience the most pressure from pushing against your head.

I thought perhaps I just had a big head, but after looking at these other reviews, it appears I'm not alone. Or we all have big heads.

In any case, stay away from these headphones!

i like this [Posted on 2007-02-09]
I just got them in and was impressed right away by the look of them. Used them to watch a DVD on my laptop and the sound was great and they were very comfortable. One feature that is great for lap top users is the L plug in..keeps a low profile around your computer and helps to avoid snags or accidentally pulling the cord out.
