It works for me [Posted on 2008-03-29] This just works. My old Replay TV remote was failing, and so was the remote for an older tv in the kitchen as well as the remote for my KLH receiver. I entered some codes and used the learning function and managed to get everything working. Follow the directions in the manual, which aren't as bad as some, and this thing will give you CONTROL!
I bought another one for the living room equipment, and this worked fine, too, except for a Panasonic DVR that has lots of oddball controls. I'll work on getting that remote 's controls programmed in the future.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the functionality and low PRICE of this remote.
Great value for the price!! [Posted on 2008-04-01] No universal remote is perfect, but for the price this one comes very close. No, it doesn't have all the fancy bells and whistles (and headaches) of the remotes that cost 10 times as much, but it does what it is supposed to do with a minimum of fuss and muss. I've done a lot of comparison shopping, and for my money, there is no other universal remote on the market that provides as much bang for the buck as this one does for the average consumer.
Versatile but still not perfect [Posted on 2008-04-26] Was able to program for most of my items and the learn feature works well. The response time from button push seems better than my last remote. The biggest weakness and what irritates me is that this is a "Phillips" programmable remote and there is no code for my "Phillips" DVR. I had to use the learn feature for all of the buttons.
Good value [Posted on 2008-05-02] Pros
- Learning function works very well.
- It has all the buttons I need to control my dvr.
- You can't beat the price.
Cons
- Button layout isn't that great. I got this because I wanted to control a dvr. Unfortunately, most of the dvr buttons are at the bottom of the remote, and are not easy to reach.
- The button response is very slow. I would have given this remote 4 or 5 stars if the response time was as fast as the dvr remote from my cable company.
I probably wouldn't buy it again because of the response time, but for the price I had to give it a try.
smart remote [Posted on 2008-05-31] this is a very good item, it is nice to use only one remote for all of the units that i have to work with. the learning it has built in is some kind of great. and it don't cost no 400. dollars.
