Most comfortable portable headphones. [Posted on 2007-11-02] These are my favorite portable headphones: they are the most comfortable, they filter out most ambient noise, and they sound good enough for my primitive tastes.
I own a lot of headsets for my iPod (I tend to keep them in various places: at work, in my daypack, in the car, ...), so I've tried a lot of different types. These are the only ones I can keep on my ears for hours at a time. They are one of only two pairs that deliver decent sound when I walk to work... especially when I cross a freeway overpass (they keep out the traffic noise for all but the heaviest trucks).
On the downside: the cord wraps even worse than most headphones (because the cable length varies for the two speakers).
One important trick: remember to "clip" tightly - I found it made all the difference in improving overall volume, bass & treble balance, and filtering out ambient noise. Well clipped, these are almost good enough for airplane use (although I tend to take a noise-canceling pair for long flights).
Convenient & good for family use [Posted on 2007-12-10] I like these because I find them comfortable, and they are small and easy to carry in my purse to use with my iPod. The other thing that's great about this design is that I can clip one earphone each on two children and let them watch a kid video on the iPod together, when we're waiting for food at a restaurant or sitting somewhere else where those little Sesame street videos or whatever come in handy.
A Good, Simple Set of Headphones [Posted on 2008-02-08] I've gone through a couple pairs of this model of headphone. I like their simplicity, low weight, and relative quality. They're obviously no on or around ear set, but for "around town", I like them (not a fan of the in-ear buds). The only weak point of their design is that the metal Philips plates on the sides tend to fall into the housing, if say left in your pocket with a lot of other junk banging into them. This gives them a rather annoying rattle when running with them, but that's what I get for destroying my stuff.
lame head phones [Posted on 2008-04-26] i usually like these type of clip on head phones for work, and i thought since they were "Phillips", that they would be quality... i sit at a desk on the computer, and these things will barely stay on. the sound is great when they actually stay attached to my ear. sorry phillips, you need to come up with something better.
Nice Headphones [Posted on 2008-06-24] I have headphones for hours and hours a day. Consequently, I'm pretty hard on headphones. I really like these. I think that the sound is good, but then I mostly listen to audiobooks and podcasts. For a music lover you may want something with a better quality sound. They fit great, but I think my ears are probaly on the smaller side. They are also great for sleeping especially if you sleep on your back. I love the cushion behind the ears it is very comfortable. Also, the cord is very soft and pliable. My only complaint is that I think they could be a little cheaper. All in all I'm happy with these headphones and I will probably repurchase when not if I break them!
