Buyer Beware !!!! [Posted on 2004-09-25] My system stopped working completely after 9 months. Pinnacle support does not offer toll free number and wait times are very long. Tried using their web support, but they did did not provide a solution to my problem and refused to acknowledge my request for information on returning (it was still under warranty). Very expensive paper weight!
Buyer Beware [Posted on 2004-10-29] God help the fool that buys PCTV Deluxe! No support and no updated drivers. Pinnacle has moved on to something else. I lost money on this garbage. I would give it a zero star if that option existed.
Will not work with XP service pack 2 [Posted on 2004-12-08] It worked fine for a while and when I uploaded SP-2 it stopped. It doesn't say this on their website but the tech I got on the phone after 40 minutes said "uhhh Yeah, Microsoft really doesn't like us" I'm not sure what that means but there isn't a fix for this yet (7 Dec 04)
This device is horrible. [Posted on 2007-06-09] I have this connected to a dedicated PC with a gig of ram and it locks up every 3-5 hours. You have to cycle power to the unit and restart the software. Pinnacle is aware of the issues with this device. Please do your research on this device before buying. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
This is a terrible product. [Posted on 2007-09-29] I bought the PCTV Deluxe Tuner expecting it to be a decent upgrade from the PCTV USB2 Tuner I'd been using for a few years. I was wrong. Not only does it lag horribly in and out of non-capture mode, but most video settings are grayed. I run a pretty decent machine, capable of handling just about anything thrown at it short of Oblivion at high-end display. I run minimal applications in the background and keep my drivers up to date. After installing this catastrophy, I restarted as prompted, allowed the test to run, and was given a clean bill of health. I tried running my XBox 360 through it only to find a 7 second delay on average, and to top it off, the software shipped really hates having other windows dragged over it as it will freeze and crash. Also, it does not support the 16:9 aspect, even though some idiot left it in the video options. Extending the viewer but leaving the margins blackened is not "wide screen", genious. What baffles me most is the PCTV USB2 runs wonderfully, any aspect, an input, etc. including wide screen, this garbage does not, as it demands too much and gives so little. If this product works for you, that's fine, but I shouldn't have to build a system around garbage that's incapable of taking full advantage of USB 2.0's transfer rate. If you want a decent PC Tuner, go with the PCTV USB2or another manufacturer altogether. However, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.
